Alright, so I had a lot of pre-game discussion, a lot of names to write down, and a lot of fanboying/fangirling in this, so somehow this took well over two hours for two episodes, but the videos should get a bit more condensed after this if I had to guess. I still love the symbolism of Nagito being the only one who gets his own stands alone shot at 1:23:39 cause he stands apart from everyone else in terms of both alligance and ideology.

This is so nostalgic, I remember watching this with so much anticipation each week back in 2016. Regardless of how I feel about how it ended it was still one of the most fun seasonal Anime experiences I've had.

This takes me back to 2016. I was a Shark viewer all the way back then and I was hype cause this show and Orange were airing in the same season. Shark reacted to Orange which was a massive surprise (especially cause no one talks about Orange now) and I remember thinking I was hoping you'd react to Danganronpa one day, AND NOW WE'RE HERE

Super excited for these. The anime is a bit controversial, but I enjoyed watching it as it came out and the unique format. It's not perfect, but neither are the games. The openings are both great despite how different they are. Especially love Despair arc and its opening because the DR2 cast is my favorite. Chisa definitely makes a strong impression in both first episodes, being the first victim and class 77's teacher.

1:24:00 also nice touch is them falling into despair

Make sure to watch the Super Danganronpa 2.5 OVA before the final episode. I don't see it mentioned often, but it provides important context for the Hope Arc.

So funny story when I was watching the anime I somehow mixed up the watch order of Despair arc and Future arc.

43 minutes into the video but only 5 minutes into the first episode. Love it 😂

godddd yeah despair arc is both so happy and sad.... it's so nice getting to see more of the characters and seeing them live a fun, "normal" school life, but... we know how it ends for them. which makes everything feel so bittersweet. at least at one time, they had a happy life. but yeah, dr2 cast is probably my favorite, so despair arc was such a treat for me.

Honestly 2 hours for a LONG TIME COMING entry is VERY justified to me. You DO have alot to say and I'm loving it. It was worth it to binge your Dangan journey.

A very sad reality of this particular series is that the lead singers for future arc's op and ed are both dead. Sayaka Kanda of TRUSTRICK passed away in December 2021 and Maon Kurosaki passed away in February 2023.

this might be an unpopular opinion, but i remember really liking dr3 when i first watched it, despite the discourse surrounding it. that may be because i'm never trying to keep track of any plot holes and retcons, but still. i'm a simple person, i enjoy both fun and complex characters, meaningful interactions and cool moments - and i think the danganronpa franchise always satisfies me in that regard. i remember being entertained a few years back, so i can't wait to rewatch this with yall :)

There werent any real plot holes or retcones people just dont like how it handled some story aspects, but it was super comfy watching it as it came out and theory crafting and meming with the community as it dropped, trying to come up with who the mastermind is and how its gonna end was really chil and fun. Also all the detail is just pure fanservice in a non lewd way its perfect

about chisa teaching the remnants, she specifically said the remnants not the ultimate despair, so no junko was NOT in her class and I do realize I am typing this before he gets to despair arc ep1. finish dying by the end of op part 2? I nearly died while on an airplane in the same way(losing my throat) not literally dying of course just my throat is still coarse

I hope you enjoy the animes! I just finished playing V3 and i loved it! Its honestly the most fun ive had in the murder trials out of all the games in the series. I cant wait to see you play it too!

Oh man V3 was such a trip for me...I didn't get to play the first and second dangan games because I got into the fandom kinda young but I decided to at least play a dangan game in my life and I'm glad V3 was my first experience! It was so good, especially the new mini game additions to the trials and the music. I took a one week break after the first damn trial😭 so you can probably tell how much this game got to me.

- Despair Gundham does his best cosplay of Chrollo from HxH. Fun fact in the dub he's voiced by KaiserNeko from TeamFourStar - The reason Mikan got depressed being called rotten is cause her name means "mandarin"

Hearing the music at the start was hype as hell. This might sound odd, but it feels as if we've always seen your reactions to this series. Like, you don't show yourself when doing the games, but you get your reactions across so well you don't really need to. Excited to see the fanboy grins that will almost certainly happen when particular characters come up.

@@IamTealeaf I dunno if it'll impact DR3 that much, but when it aired I was an edgy teenager who wanted to look super smart so I tried to poke a lot of holes at things using LOGIC which is obviously extremely awful for any real work of art. Nowadays I'm not stupid and I love emotion and themes and flaws and such.

while I do agree a lot of things didn't make that much imepct on me in this series, I think the ideas were very interesting to watch and some characters I really love the idea of them and how they die off. so I mostly enjoy the future arc more. the Despair Arc I mostly watch very fast and forgot about it, maybe it just me though but I don't like filler and it felt mostly filler. still I don't hate it but I could live without the Despair Arc.

Once Covid hit and you started DR1, I just spent a good chunk the next year of my life 100%ing all Dangonronpa games on Steam and watching this anime like 6 times. I have been waiting for this reaction for four years. There is no way I'm even slightly bothered that you took over two hours to watch two episodes. I am SO looking forward to watching you go through this last part of the main story Dangonronpa journey, even if it takes 2hrs for every two eps lol

YOOOOOOOOOO! I've been waiting for this since you started the first game! DR3 is by far my favorite entry in the DR series and Chiaki is my best girl, I love her so much. As for best character, up till DR3 it was Junko... It only changed in DRV3 with Kokichi's appearance.

It sucks you aren't rocking with the dub. While some of the cast don't have the same VA's from the games, a lot of them do. Better to recognize some them none. I think you'd enjoy it. I did. It wasn't a huge distraction to my overall enjoyment. Still looking forward to your reactions overall.

More than the voice actors, I hated the script for the dub. They change how characters address each other compared to the games. Makoto and Kyoko have been through hell, and now suddenly they're on a last-name basis? Gross. Everything feels so stiff and formal, which fits for a Japanese setting, but it *doesn't* fit the game's dubs.

@@thesharinganbeast6478 Most of them aren't familiar voices though. There's some, but a lot aren't. It's not nitpicking to go from playing the games to feeling massive whiplash from the anime. Also for some reason Bryce's Nagito sounds totally different in DR3. Like it's obviously still him but he's gradually lost raspiness from DR2 > UDG > DR3 and sounds even creepier and more soft spoken than he did in UDG which is just weird.
