I'm saying this as a former student who was discouraged by a teacher who wanted me in his program but confused me by telling me not to join the classical program at his school (he taught jazz). I ended up not going to his school, missing out on my mentor, because I thought he was telling me I literally wouldn't get in when it was actually the opposite. He personally worked with my high school jazz combo for years and knew we were skilled enough to enter the jazz program, but tried to make sure none of us did classical accidentally. So I went to a different university, went down the classical route and still played in the jazz band. My would-be piano mentor ended up leaving the school and died a year after I had my car accident (which killed my father). I ended up having a stunning career in majority jazz in public and classical in schools where I now teach K-8 music. However, I temporarily thought I wasn't good enough to enter a premier school because of his phrasing, only to find out later, he was waiting for me to be in their jazz program and had shot himself in the foot by saying, "you would never make it in our classical program." As teachers, it *matters* the way you tell students what is and isn't realistic. You can redirect their attention without stomping on their current dreams. For example, "acting is one nice career choice when you grow up. That's a really cool option that you've thought of. Have you ever thought about **insert secondary idea here.** ? The Great thing about my students is that they can do just about anything positive and reasonable that they put their mind to, and I believe in you. I would love to see you stretch that mind of yours even more." (And if they don't know what any of the words you said mean, that would be a great time to teach them.) Me too! She had follow up questions for him. That is a huge plus in my eyes cuz that means she has an active mind, she's interesting and inquisitive. Intellectual chemistry is a must for me. Once you experience it you don't go back. It can make a simple conversation exciting cuz they're so engaging! And I've noticed that the most intellectually engaging girls seem to be the most compassionate. The smartest girl I dated also had the biggest heart. She was so selfless and caring it kinda blew me away. It was one of her top 3 traits hands down.

This was actually so sweet, I loved how their definitions of glow ups were completely different to what's usually associated with the term online. The questions were really thoughtful and gave insight into each individual, which was so beautiful to see and hear. Everyone's smile was so cute and heartwarming, both back then and now! I also loved how they were all on the same page in terms of humour XD

i love how the girls were supportive with eachother and gave compliments when they had to leave, saying that the other ones are all really pretty! we love some women supporting women !!!! i liked the girl he picked because it did feel like they resonated well with eachother so i was glad ! they were all wholesome though and all of them had great glow ups, it felt like all of them really felt better with who they were today and accepted themselves for who they are instead of trying to fit in !

my pet peeve with glow ups is that people often show their childhood pics as their before, like you were a child. what are we supposed to look like as children? being awkward and growing into your features is a part of life.
