Blender 2.82 Array Curve Instancing Procedural Bridges & Models No Mesh Stretching
Ойындар
Welcome back to another 3D Tudor KZread tutorial! Today we will be going over how to procedurally generate more posts and plans to make a bridge. I will show you how to do array curve instancing using the curve and array modifier.
Together, we will practice array curve instancing by building bridges and scaling them to size. You can use the same skills you have learned through this tutorial to build train tracks in the same way as well.
What’s the best thing about this tutorial?
We will be doing this all without any mesh stretching or artefacts.

Hi great tutorial! I have been playing around with this but cant get the items to follow the normal of the curve. Would like the posts to be angled when the curve is moving up or down. Do you know how? Thanks for great content.
Great explanation. I do hit a snag when it comes to making the posts stretch across the bridge. CTRL P works with boards but never with posts. I did the add on in preferences and still nothing.
i have been looking for a way to instance arrays and up until now i thought it was impossible! thank you so much. i dont really understand how it works though, never heard of that instancing verts tab before, what does it actually do?
It's useful! and How to fix the railing rotation to follow curve?

If you found an answer to that, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
Part 2 of this could be turning it into a nice rope bridge.

Awesome idea! I will be pumping out lots of KZread content this month so this might just make it :)
i have a question, how do you rotate it, like make the bridge spin a little bit just like rollar coaster
do you mind redoing this in 2.93...ive been trying to get it to work but the vertices keep going way past the curve
Great tutorial but is there an addon that simplifies this? I feel like this could be simpler.

That does what exactly? This is about as simple as it gets..
A bit of advice.. You don't need to collapse a plane to create a single vert. Just go to Preferences>Addons> and, again, type in 'extra' and enable 'Extra Objects.' Now, when pressing SHIFT+A to create a new object, simply go to "Mesh>Single Vert>Add Single Vert" to create a single verticy at world origin. The only thing that I dislike about this is that it's not very precise and requires a lot of eyeballing.
Helpful video....I'm trying to create stairs like that but curved on x and y axis but not Z.. and as you can image it's diving me crazy, Do you have any solution for that? array + curve Modifier does not help too as curve modifier bends in Z direction too
@3DTudor

You could try the bend modifier. Let me know if this works :)

@@3DTudor i figured it out, with array and curve modifier.. use a 3d curve but don't bend the curve in z direction, on x and y axis only and with array use fit curve and offset it in z direction + either x or y, depends on stairs.. haha

@@AB-td5oo Nice AB glad its sorted. Thanks for update :)
everything worked, but after parenting, the instancing object still only shows as verts and not replaced with the object
Lost me at the start, maybe it's because I'm on 2.92? But the adding extra curves bit (at the beginning)? Didn't work. I never saw the extra curves. Restarted yada yada.. maybe it's a bug in 2.92?
How come your poles are still vertical? Mine are slanted with the curve.

Best one I know of thats free is OBS. the screen cast however is N on the keyboard and then checkmark enable screen cast
How to make the vector of an object follow the curve. Your vector mesh method is always the same. It doesn't suit me:(((
