I just had a patient with this last week .she was moderately anemic too . We think autoimmune. Zero platelets . Gave her platelet transfusion and it was still zero the next day .Put her on Pred also and Vitamin K in case of rat poisoning.

My dog just died from this disease yesterday. He bled out everywhere, his nose, eyes and mouth. It started with a lesion that wouldn't stop bleeding. Three days later he was dead. This was a nightmare. Sleep in heavenly peace Eddy. Momma loves you.

@@choumicha37 he was only 23. He was diagnosed at 10, when he presented bruises and pin point spots all over.

My 5f shih tzu's has IMHA and she has this to. She has been on prednisone for 4 months now and on the weaning process. She was knocking on deaths door when she got diagnosed, thank God I caught it just in time. But with the prednisone and the special diet (high in red meat, liver and organs with vitamins)I created for her she broke out of it. The only thing I say is that prednisone does a number to their bodies. At first the side effects were worse than the disease itself especially on high doses.

eek. I understand the ease of access and speed for large volumes but I was always taught to stay away from the jug in cases of coagulation problems.

That's amazing your such a great caring doc that helps many. my dog phobie looks sorta weird like tht. I wouldn't have called it brushing tho? its like skin pigmentation. she got it even under her front underarms sir

teresa chase She could be chaffing. This is common in dogs who are overweight.

My sister had that when her white cell drops so low her capillaries were bursting. She had big purple spots all over her chest and belly. Poor kid couldn't eat while in the hospital because if she threw up she wouldn't stop bleeding and would have died. Whatever she had was super super rare and all the docs and residents came through her room to see and she kept hearing "you will never see this again, honey can we see your chest" the thing she remembers most was every doc had cold hands lol. This happened when she was 7-8 and is fine now

I had ITP when I was a baby. I was hospitalized and was given platelet transfusions. My platelets were so low if I would have bumped into something I could have bled to death. I didn't realize this could happen in dogs! I hope she makes a full recovery!

very informative. i had petichia...looked like a rash...and received IV bags of platelets. can this be done for dogs? is there a blood bank available? i enjoy all your videos. thank you for making time to teach.

Most vets use another dog for transfusion... They take it as needed instead of a blood bank

Hello i just saw your video my shi tzu is diagnosed with itp,can melatonin be given next to the prednison?

First disorder I thought of was Canine Lupus... she looks like a Golden/Collie-type mix. We KNOW autoimmune diseases are more prevalent in both type breeds. How about Anti-DNA study for these dogs w Petechial hemorrhaging & Low platelet count. It’s always a hard decision how to treat Autoimmune conditions w/o high-dose Steroids. Treated 1 of my first dogs w 1-2mg Prednisone for 7 years & he lived till the ci age of 18 yrs.3 months. PM only showed NON-malignant L-sided Adrenal mass. Our Vet uses this protocol for refractive auto-immunity cases now.

Having Experienced ITP and low platelets myself, I was surprised to see this beautiful dog also have this condition. After seeing a naturopath that practices BioResonance, a bacteria was found in my liver and pancreas called Mycoplasma. It was cleared with Coconut Oil based supplement and vitamins D & K2. Could this dog have picked up this Mycoplasma bacteria and have it in its liver and pancreas too? I took prednisone and dexamethasone which relieved low platelets for 3-6 months but always ultimately returned until this year 2019 when I saw the BioResonance naturopath. Hoping Kelli the dog has a full recovery.

Thats a horrible Idea to lull from the jugular vein if you see bruises. The dog clild bleed out if platelets are low.

Maybe the dog had Babesiosis
