Now the fun part is finding a replacement ABS hydraulic module these days.

Saw another video earlier. These ABS units have some kind of bleeder valve on the right side, covered by a plastic cap. Press it in while someone pumps the brakes, it'll bleed out of that valve. Shouldn't have to disconnect the three lines. I haven't looked at it on my truck yet, maybe I don't have that valve. The only thing is, my brake light went out after we bled them, and the ABS light isn't on. Pedal is still spongy. Checking it out tomorrow.

@@noahkiger9788 You can use the bleed nipple on the side. I like using the brake lines, more fluid is exchanged. If your brakes are spongy you may still have air in the lines. Bleed all four corners. Don't be afraid of using a lot of brake fluid. It gets air out and exchanges the brake fluid.

@@noahkiger9788 Also, make sure you don't have a caliber or rear brake cylinder leaking.

@@noahkiger9788 Also, also when you do the front brakes ALWAYS pull off the rear drums and blow out brake dust and clean them with brake clean and adjust. Make sure you don't have a wheel cylinder that is leaking. Very common on drum brakes. Also make sure your axle bearings are good and the seals.

You may have a bad abs unit or the connector is not making a good connection.

Why doesn’t the back won’t bleed out? I bleed the Abs but it won’t bleed at rear brake? 99 Chevy Tahoe

You should be able to bleed the brakes after bleeding the ABS. You will need to get any air out. Is your master cylinder have any issues?

I wanted to add. Your rear rubber brake lines may be calapsed on the inside. Replace them and that could be the issue.

I’m having similar issues as big eckz (in the comments) my rear brakes are getting no fluid. How many ABS “pumps” did you have to do? I’ve replaced the master to 99+ now. But it’s still having that issue. Just trying to get a gauge on bleeding ABS

Pump it like you are doing a brake job. Check your rubber brake lines. There is also a bleed port on the side of the ABS unit. Try doing it there, watch out where the fluid goes.

@@DocZoidberg549 thank you, actually the bleed port on the abs unit I believe was my fix! Truck stops on a dime and has such a better aggressive bite at the top of the pedal now. (I also did the 99+ brake master cylinder). Can’t wait to throw new rotors and pads on the front and really get the stopping power I’ve been missing

Just loosen the fittings and bleed it like brakes. Have someone inside pressing and releasing the brake pedal as needed.

Only do this if you know how to work on brakes. If you don't, get help from someone who does. Don't take any chances with brake systems.
