Yay after 5 video's lucky number 6 straight to the point.. as my autism gets in the way and I'm completely new with all this, I was struggling with Canva Pro and you my friend have saved me haha tyvm, Great Video, Liked and Subbed

I watched this video (your explanation is very clear - thank you) to see if it would shed some light on my problem. I have also designed a 8.5 x 11 inch trim size book in Canva, and I subsequently resized the source file in Canva, so that the page size increased to the respective 0.125 and 0.25 inches needed for page bleed extent. I've uploaded to KDP (with 'Bleed' selected), and although the previewer file didn't flag any problems, after I hit the 'Publish' button, KDP keeps rejecting my file, saying that another .125 and .25 inch should be added to my page size. I've even tried submitting a file that was OVER the required page size, but KDP still returns the error that I need to increase the page size. I can't fathom how to fix this, because it seems I have done exactly what is requested. If anyone here has any answers, I'd be grateful!

I'm not sure how, but I just kept removing anything that could be possibly considered close to the margin (even though the Print Previewer flagged no issues), and eventually after about 15 submit attempts, KDP accepted my file. Also, although this video is pretty clear, I would instead recommend this even better video about margins and bleed in Canva for KDP - vid title: How to Format No-Low Content Books, Margin and Bleed, Easy KDP Tutorial

Yes the interior and the cover are separate and totally independent of each other.

Hello, in your square book you have images in on the pages and that's consider "no bleed"? I thought that even if you have one image its consider a bleed book. Please explain.

I sent my upload to KDP and received this error message in my email: We checked your files and found issues you need to fix before your book can be published on KDP: Cover Resize the background or image on your cover so that it extends 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. All covers must be sized for bleed, which means you need to add an extra 0.125" (3.2 mm) along the top, bottom, and sides of your cover file. Once you have increased the size of your cover, extend any images or backgrounds that you want to reach all the way to the edge of the page 0.125” (3.2 mm) beyond the trim line. This prevents manufacturing issues when the cover is trimmed to size. Learn more about bleed . Is their a way I can fix this, can you assist with this issue? Thanks

it was a big help, so all I need to do is set the size I want (8.5 * 11) for example then set the print bleed and margine in canva and in KDP I choose with bleed, right? I reaaly need an advice since I was so confused

cause others say I should not choose that on canva, I should use the ruler by myself

I'm using Adobe InDesign and I'm creating a book with 192 pages that is 9"x6" with bleed. So I need to know how big to make the actual document. If I set the document to be 9"x6", that is not going to be big enough for the cut lines, right? I can't believe this information doesn't exist, but I cannot find it.

so what happens if I chose bleed and nothing reaches the edges? I chose bleed on so many books and not sure if i need to change all of them and change the interior size to choose no bleed!

no need to change anything if the print preview passed the checks and you are happy with them .. bleed just tells amazon you expect the image to go to the edge and okay with it being cutoff when printed...

Does the facebook group still exist?

So does it mean that if my 6x9" book is NO BLEED, I create an interior with a size of 6x9" and if it is WITH BLEED, then my interior document actually has to be created with a size of 6.125" x 9.25"?

The canva show bleed feature seems useless to me. It just adds an imaginary bleed margin to the page. But when you create the file you still need to include the bleed sizes anyway. So what's the point?

Correct .. it is still up to you to manage the PDF file with bleed or no bleed, Canva is not setup as a publishing tool... It's just a guide for margins you have to be aware of what you are creating and create your own guides for bleed...

I discovered the purpose of the bleed margin in canva lol. It will be added if you select pdf print and check crop bleed marks. But I would still rather not have the ugly black crop marks in the pdf.

Most of your viewers found this tutorial to be very helpful. I must be pretty dense, because I really don't know what you are trying to say (specifically) as it applies to KDP. Sorry.
