Blazer Brake Upgrade - ISSUES FOUND - MUST WATCH - NOT CLICKBAIT

I am not a professional. This video is for entertainment purposes only. I am not sponsored by any company mentioned in this video. I did this install based on my own research and used my own money to purchase the products.
I found wheel clearance issues after I upgraded to the S10 Blazer dual piston brakes. I didn't see this issue when I originally installed the S10 Blazer brakes. I am not sure if this affects G Body cars or not, but I wanted to get my results and fix posted as soon as I found this clearance issue. The parts I used are listed below and as always thank you for watching and click that subscribe button if you found this information useful or like the content that you see.

As an update to those wanting these spacers, they are not available in 6mm anymore. You can get 3mm or 5mm now.

Great detailed video.. I did this brake upgrade to my gbody a while back and good thing I haven’t really driven it yet.. I always thought the front wheels had a tad bit too much drag for my liking and now u confirmed my suspicions.. I’m gonna go ur route to remedy it.. u earned my subscription! 🫡

@nitomeanbodyGBODY. Hate that you had the issue but glad the video helped. I had not heard of anyone having scrubbing but it was obvious when I took the wheel off the caliper bracket was touching a little. I really appreciate the sub and the comment for sure!!

@@dtperformance256 I believe that it’s so minimal most don’t bother. But I knew I couldn’t be crazy to think it.. but because I hadn’t heard anyone else complain I just figured maybe the slight drag was just the hubs natural design. But now i know better from the light u shed on it!

If you run NHRA sanctioned events you may need those open end lug nuts to pass tech.

@Steve A thanks for clarifying! I was wondering that and that is why I kept the open end lug nuts. I read that if you use a spacer NHRA requires that you lengthen the stud the same amount. I kept the open end lug nuts to show the lenght of lug nut that I have installed. Thanks again for the comment!!!

Different wheels with different offsets will clear the caliper bracket with ease. Of course not everyone is able to get a set of different wheels but i think it's the best solution so one does not have to improvise lol.

@T0712096 agree but it was cheaper for me to get spacer than new wheels this time. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching!!

Good tip. Just ordered a set of spacers because they only had 3 sets in stock.

@Your PCMD I am thinking I will order a set of 1/2” spacers to have on hand to give me a little more clearance. I don’t know why. I like a little extra room I guess.

Little secret about the original lugnuts, if your studs are shorter than your studs, the end caps pop off letting the stud extend past the end of the nut. FYI

@garypease7414 Thanks! I had one push the end off of a lug nut one time and wondered if that was part of the design. Thanks for watching and the comment!

Grinding a little bit off of the abutment bracket where it scrapes the rim would be my low cost solution. Free!

  • @dtperformance256

@ronnelson7828 I thought about that, but I am an overthinker and thought “what if” the wheel bearing wears later will it damage the wheel? Would I compromise the strength of the abutment bracket? So…….. I over engineered a solution. Crazy I know, but I wanted a repeatable, “bolt on” solution. Thanks for watching and the comment!!

@BowtieMarco it is the front rotor. It was rubbing my Weld wheel. Have you ever seen that before? That is why I used the spacer. It was crazy. I have never seen that before. And thank you! Thanks for watching and commenting!!

@shadetree5346 I have never installed Weld wheels on an S10 Blazer but I would have expected the fitment to have clearance. I see Blazers all the time with Weld wheels. I tried researching this and I am not sure why my wheels were touching on the back. It was an odd thing and this was my solution. Wanted to share the video in case someone else had seen this as well. So far I haven’t had anyone else say they had the same issues that I had. Maybe they have and just aren’t commenting. This fixed my issue but it it still odd to me that I even had an issue. Thanks for watching and the comment.
