Ойын-сауық

Get ready for an explosion of afros, kung-fu chops, and 70s swag because Syntell and Rekkai are diving headfirst into the hilarious blaxploitation film, Black Dynamite, for the very first time!
Join us as we witness the righteous fury of Black Dynamite (Michael Jai White) unfold after his brother's death at the hands of "The Man." We'll be cracking up at the over-the-top action, groovy soundtrack, and outrageous dialogue alongside our man Black Dynamite and his crew, including the seductive Honey Bee (Nicole Ari Parker) and the smooth-talking Cream Corn (Tommy Davidson).
But will Black Dynamite's kung-fu skills and street smarts be enough to take down the corrupt forces plaguing his community? Will the film live up to the classic blaxploitation style? We'll be dishing all our thoughts, feels, and burning questions in a spoiler-free way throughout the video. Then, at the end, we'll hold a no-holds-barred discussion to break down what truly made Black Dynamite a cinematic experience (or maybe an experience to forget!).
So, grab your favorite pimp chalice (or just some popcorn) and get ready to laugh along with Syntell and Rekkai as we react to Black Dynamite!
Fresh and honest reactions from first-time viewers.
Insightful commentary and analysis of the episode.

You can absolutely have this kind of humor. It's just a matter of whether or not it's all in good fun. Like with Mel Brookes and Blazing Saddles. You just have to ignore the whiney liberal white saviors. They act like they speak on behalf of ALL black folks and those who rebuke them get racial slurs thrown at them like you wouldn't believe.

I'm not black but I was 10 years old in 1971. I have seen quite a few Blaxploitation movies then and since then. They are of course uneven but generally I enjoy their cool "vibe." Sure maybe they exploited the very real socioeconomic problems that American inner cities were going through but I never thought I was watching a documentary. They did, through entertainment, actually make me aware of those basic problems even though they didn't suggest too may realistic solutions. As to their low-budget quality let's all remember there were quite a few "white" drive -in movies made then as well, usually involving biker gangs and blonde babes. It was a great time for youthful low-budget cinema across the ethno-cultural board. These movies all have a charm and I have a great affection to this day for their spirit. Black Dynamite, though it is a send-up, also shows a lot of love and affection towards those movies and their times. For more send-ups please check out the Dolemite and Funkenstein sketches from MAD TV!

That one guy @15:02 who say "Sarcastically, I'm in charge" is reading the script directions along with his lines. The joke is that the script is telling him to say "I'm in charge" in a sarcastic voice, but he mistakenly reads the script direction as part of his spoken dialogue. He does this again later as well. That's what I love about this movie, you always discover something else each time you watch it.

Bullhorn is a reference to Dolemite, from the rhyming, to the fight scenes where it's obvious he never makes contact when throwing a punch. Look up Dolemite, cause the clips on youtube show just about all the things you are seeing in Black Dynamite, from the boom mic dropping into view, to the fight scenes where the actors throw themselves back 10 seconds before a punch is thrown.

Y'all. I saw this in the theater, in DC at a midnight show with a big group of friends. The theater was PACKED. I had never experienced anything like this before or since, as far as audience energy goes, not even Endgame! The MOST fun. My stomach hurt from laughing. When the car door got stuck in the grass during his getaway, I've never felt like more a part of my Generation than I did when the laughter hit the theater like a tidal wave. Like, we ALL remembered that shit happening. Seeing it in a movie like this was too much, most of the movie felt this way, but for some reason, that car door gag hit everyone different. What a great memory. And what fun to enjoy seeing you two watch this and get similarly bowled over by the genius-level idiotic niche humor in this movie.

There have been a few decent homages to blaxploitation cinema. Comedies such as I'm Gonna Git You Sucka and Undercover Brother are among the best, but Black Dynamite is the platinum standard , not just a parody of the plot clichés, but also the low budget production values such as visible boom microphones and poor editing. By far, this was the best reaction to this movie that I've seen so far. Your knowledge of the various actors appearing throughout the movie shows that you two are definitely students of cinema and have enormous respect for the craft.

If you haven't seen it, the 1975 movie "Dolomite" by Rudy Ray Moore, was probably the main inspiration for this movie. It was made on a shoe string budget, Rudy basically used his limited martial arts skills and pretty much wrote it as he filmed. They even made a "biopic" called "Dolomite is my name" starting Eddie Murphy, that isn't too bad. Oh and while not in the same vain, Quentin Tarantino's "Jackie Brown" staring Pam Grier, is great too.

What makes Black Dynamite both hilarious and depressing is that you get the feeling that Michael Jai White could only have come up with all of this stuff based on things he'd actually seen happen on movie sets. 😂The boom mic accidentally being lowered into frame; the actor accidentally reading his stage directions like they were dialogue; the stuntman being replaced after the actor hit him; etc. 🤣

P.S. I think you *should* do a weekly Blaxploitation/Karate Movie Day (for Saturday afternoons--when else? :)) but you should mix it up with the docudramas--"Dragon," "Baadasss," "Dolomite is My Name" with Eddie Murphy, etc.. so you can explain the whole era. (Would you risk doing "Spook/Door" or "Five/Blackhand Side?" Hmmm.) If you go the edutainment route one day a week, don't go halfway! Right or not at all, baby! LOL!!!

I feel like black cinema storytelling changes within every twenty years or so. The seventies had blaxploitation, the nineties had hood movies, and the 2010s saw a rise of what people call slave movies. For me, I would love to see afrofuturism take off as the next new thing. It's taken off in books, and since 99% of Hollywood stories are based off of novels I think it's only a matter of time before we get that genre.

Undercover Brother 2002 comes pretty close to I'm Gonna Git You Sucka. And, have y'all seen They Cloned Tyrone yet? Last two years, on Netflix, they took Blaxploitation and parody to a new sci-fi level in that movie. And EVERYONE brings it. The cast is amazing.

I watched the TV Animated series, but didn't know they'd made a live action movie! I saw your vid was up so I had to watch this movie TODAY, and then I rewatched your take on it, it was SO GOOD!! OMG, 🤣🤣🤣 For the most part they stuck to the cartoon roots. Bullhorn, Cream Corn, Honey Bee, all of the actors are the same or sound the same exactly as the cartoon (I didn't look it up, but I'm pretty sure). Stand out moments for me: Switching actors mid-fight when Bullhorn slapped the actor and things got real, that had me crying over here! Shaking the Orphan till his eyes pop out. Having parents and a brother, then he was an orphan and nobody bats an eye, or people calling him Black Dynamite as a child. Beating the Kung-Fu guy with his own hand. The funniest thing of all though for me was the animated astrological sex scene. I lost it, I laughed so So hard! I've seen a lot of movies like this, but I think this one takes the cake, I needed a good laugh today and this did the trick, OMG!!🤣🤣🤣🤣 You know if you're looking for a silly like this Martial Arts movie, you should check out Kung Pow: Enter The Fist! That's a GREAT movie I loved and have the DVD for. I will check out Rekkai's channel as usual, but a lil bit later after I get some other stuff done. Maybe during work tomorrow on my other account.

@@nupefromdaville longest vid I ever put on my channel that wasn't a live stream here was like 40 min and it took awhile but YT is funny. I had shorter vids take longer cause I would not publish them until they were HD processed. I used to have a schedule and everything and YT messed it up sometimes with upload times. In short, I feel ya, and it sucks sometimes. And no, I didn't know the movie came first (obvi) but I do now, and that makes more sense, sort of. 2 characters are back from the dead for the show I guess. 🤣
