The miracle first appeared when the twisted one asked for punishment to satiate his guilt, and the result was that he was rooted in his place, becoming the catalyst through which the miracle influences the world and punishes/blesses its inhabitants accordingly to its will. The penitent one in turn punishes himself so that the world could be free of the will of the miracle, becoming the voice of the people through communion with the miracle (or perhaps the twisted one). But, as you can see in the ending, not everyone agrees.

@@Mr_Triscuit Very cool theory, but I believe that is impossible ressurect him removing the sword because he did the same thing in the first cutscene. MC remove the sword from the body of a woman, and her didn't ressurrected

Jorge Humberto Castillo Acuña You need to find and equip the pure pearl bead you get at one of the statues you pray to to remove guilt. After you die a few times while having the pure bead equipped it’ll turn completely black. Having it equipped now allows you to destroy the statues. You then need to destroy every guilt statue and get inside their arena.

Chris Oly Well it’s actually mentionned in the descriptions of the weight of true guilt. When you equip it an die once the description realizes it actually prevents you from leaving a fragment of guilt behind post death. So people will equip it. Also keep in mind this very bead is found right before a statue you’re supposed to destroy. Deogracias in the beginning speech even mentions the growth of the thorn, so after one statue is broken, you realize your true goal. It leads you to both find out the nature of statues and essentially tells you to keep on going. Hell, that’s how I got this ending as the first one in my playthrough

Chris Oly If anything this secret ending is announced well. Subtly but if you pay attention you can see it. A lot of games have much more BS alternative endings.

I got the bad ending then re-did it to get this even worse ending lol

Basically like Jesus in the bible, he killed himself so that the everyone in Cvstodia is free from sin and guilt.

My only criticism about this is the "challenges" you have to beat by destroying every statue ARE TOO DAMN EASY, seriously if you have some sense you will upgrade yourself to the point of being too easy, I didn't die ONCE in all of the statues challenges.. they should have been harder... maybe a miniboss like the last one with the guy and the hammer (That one becomes a normal enemy in one spot after killing him, that is not a boss by then) PS: sequel bating everybody?
