this is by far the best example i have yet to find! im making 4 blankets total for my nephew who is to be born shortly and i saw this stitching in a magazine and fell in love with the look but it simply showed the basic stitch itself, not how to start, do a corner or finish. the writen instructions online just dont help, this video is a life saver! thanks for posting it!

Very Zen. I love it being silent. I can imagine my own granny talking it through. I also love how blanket stitch is SO OBVIOUS -- and yet I could not figure it out without the video. We learn by seeing and doing. Thank you!

Here's something strange but true, this is actually the stitch that they usually use to do sew in hair weaves, and this is actually the video that I showed my mom so that she could do it on my hair! LOL this helped her a lot!!

@BeStrixed Yes- it is a knot to end the stitching. You should then hide the thread in between the fabric pieces, and clip off excess.

@GulfCoastCottage i see how you first started when you pierced the fabric, but um did you tie a knot at the end of the string so that when you pulled the string through the hole it wouldnt come out or did you just leave it like that?? :o

@xXNeoteonAngelsxX you could use the blanket stitch- however the cloth will most likely fray. You could treat the edge of the aida cloth with a product like Fray Check first- and then make the stitch around the edge for decoration.

right i get the basic stich but how do you get the same pattern on both sides of the fabric. I am attempting to make a decorative heart for my wife and i want the same pattern on both sides. i get the theoryy but have yet to practice this is not easy I am a beginner but fairly confident but there are only days left to st valentines day any advice would be well apprercaited please help !!!!

This may sound stupid but I have not sewn in a while: What kind of thread is used in this video? Is it just standard thread and looks thicker since the felt brings out the color of the thread?

thx dis has been like really clearly 2 me becuz i have a project 2 do on 5 different basic hand stitches and this really help me iam only 13 going on 14 so dis help me a lot thx u very much :) (: 8-) :D
