this is by far the best example i have yet to find! im making 4 blankets total for my nephew who is to be born shortly and i saw this stitching in a magazine and fell in love with the look but it simply showed the basic stitch itself, not how to start, do a corner or finish. the writen instructions online just dont help, this video is a life saver! thanks for posting it!

Very Zen. I love it being silent. I can imagine my own granny talking it through. I also love how blanket stitch is SO OBVIOUS -- and yet I could not figure it out without the video. We learn by seeing and doing. Thank you!

I love how even though there is no speaking or text in this video, it does a better job of teaching the stitch than the previous videos I have watched.

@BeStrixed Yes- it is a knot to end the stitching. You should then hide the thread in between the fabric pieces, and clip off excess.

@GulfCoastCottage i see how you first started when you pierced the fabric, but um did you tie a knot at the end of the string so that when you pulled the string through the hole it wouldnt come out or did you just leave it like that?? :o

@xXNeoteonAngelsxX you could use the blanket stitch- however the cloth will most likely fray. You could treat the edge of the aida cloth with a product like Fray Check first- and then make the stitch around the edge for decoration.

This may sound stupid but I have not sewn in a while: What kind of thread is used in this video? Is it just standard thread and looks thicker since the felt brings out the color of the thread?
