I love how it just seem so _effortless_. PMJ takes a toplist pop song, casually makes it 1000% better, and just for fun throw in some dancers, a burning saxophone, or tambourine guy. I'm sure they work hard, I'm sure they rehearse 50 times before the shoot, but it it _seems_ like super-pro's just having a bit of fun!

I won't lie, when I first saw Ariana Savalas's name I thought, "Oh, like Telly Savalas. I'm sure it's just a coincidence." But it turns out she actually is Telly's daughter. I'm sure Telly would be proud of his daughter's accomplishments as a singer. :)

I somehow have my doubts as to 'daughter'... one of the original Desperate Housewives Sheridan (the one who was fired for hitting the prod/director over the head) IS Telly's daughter.... this gal - is significantly younger.... and Telly's been dead awhile

Telly Savalas was so famous in Greece that they had Kojak lollipops (late 70's early 80's)
It's been over 7 years and this song still invoke certain unspoken feeling.
This just proves that Taylor Swift is a good songwriter, and that the pop beats she use doesn't do her writing any justice.
@browncoat697
9 жыл бұрын
This song is probably her best lyrical output... ever. It's really well written, with mostly tight rhymes, and clever, smart metaphors ("rose garden, filled with thorns," as well as "Who is she? I get drunk on jealousy...," along with, "cause you know I love the players, and you love the game"). If the actual _music_ for Blank Space wasn't terrible (which it is, unfortunately), it'd rightfully be a classic. Hell, Swift's own performance on it isn't that bad, it's just that awful, sterile, electronic beat.
@neogazer1245
9 жыл бұрын
what are you taking about? Taylor's pop beats helped accent how crazy/intense her personal and situation was. It was perfect for the lyrics. this tune clashes with the lyrics, much like the how their "anaconda" tune clashed with the original lyrics. this song sound all formal and late night bar performance now. the singer now means like an elegant lady instead of a sociopath. How does this rendition help highlight the lyrics?
@browncoat697
9 жыл бұрын
Neo Gazer Eh, I wouldn't say it clashes now. Instead of the cold psychopath the original sterile, electronic beat projected, now it's more of a rich, fashionable, elegant bitch. Less Norman Bates, more Anna Wintour.

Neo Gazer I think I prefer this arrangement, but you've got a point. I'm sure psycho can be done at this tempo, but Ariana didn't pull it off. Perhaps she doesn't have personal experience to pull from, or wasn't going for the psycho angle. The phrasing of this arrangement adds some sense to the lyrics IMO, though it could use some vocal and performance intensity. Perhaps her live version has that.

Until I heard it in this version, I didn't realize how well written this song is.
I love how intensely watchable Ariana is. Her physicalizations are absolutely perfect - punctuating the lyrics without appearing contrived or overdone.
This song's lyrics totally cried out for the glitz, glam, and drama of cabaret style, and I'm glad it finally got it. Awesome!

I just felt as if I met Ariana Savalas, fell in love, asked her out, romanced her, had a whirlwind affair, got engaged, had an argument that created a rift between us, grew apart, had a talk at the first restaurant we ate together, cried, spoke, broke up and sat at that bar with a glass with ice and a scotch whiskey bottle, while sobbing silently remembering her beautiful face. I'm so glad that I found your KZread channel. Amazing content. Keep that great work up!
Great to see Ariana again. And my favorite drummer, Allan Mednard. Yay!
That emotion at 1:53 had me repeating that part over and over again... very well done!!
This is definitely one of my favourite song. Whoever made the arrangement is clearly.. Idk the right words to say. It's already sound like a different song. And the singer made it like it belongs to her. And I love the gestures of the dancers when they made the fan shaking behind, reminds me of peacock. Especially when they're all smiling at the end. As if some peacocks are there, smiling, proudly admitting their actions and feels no guilty about it. Amazing. This video is a whole package.
Love how the bassist fans himself at the end along with the ladies. The musicians look like they're always having a good time in these videos.
I like it. Vocals are sensual, and the arrangement reminds me of early Bette Midler, particularly The Divine Miss M record. Cabaret by way of 1970s adult contemporary.
The camera lets the performers perform. I like that.
I'm absolutely in LOVE with postmodern jukebox...
It's obvious that Ariana Savalas has a remarkable voice, but she's is also a very charismatic and captivating performer. Big words, but it's been a long time since I've seen a live show with a performer like her.

I don't think I've ever loved a Taylor Swift song so much. This gives me chills.
I had to listen to the original after hearing this. I couldn't figure out how anyone could record this song differently from this arrangement. The original sounds like a cover. This wreaks elegance. The lyrics match up perfectly with this musical style. Vocalist is a great match for the song.

The way Ariana feels and sings this song is beyond words.
Scott makes me wish I'd learned to play the piano. My mom used to play at home on an upright the odd time when I was a kid and I always loved the sound. She wasn't a terrific player but... Genuine thanks for inadvertently bringing back memories of my mom. Peace.
This is AWESOME! The music the vocals, the fan dancers, everything was great. Well done. I don't know if you take requests, but if you do, I'd love to see you guys cover "Simply You" by Secret Garden. It seems like it would lend itself well to the neo-noir treatment. Every time I hear it, I imagine a girl in a 1930s nightclub crooning it as a lament to a lost love. Just a friendly suggestion. Keep up the good work. :)
I love PMJ and Taylor Swift! Such a great cover!! :)

I heard the original version on the radio today and I was like, "What is this rubbish?" There are lots of songs where the "real" version is now the PMJ version for me.
I love the original Taylor Swift version, but Ariana really knocks it out of the park. Her voice is so incredible, and her stage presence is intoxicating.
I feel as if this would be played at a bar in the era they're portraying
The woman with the purple was doing the equivalent of twerking in a more stylish and cooler way
Look at her! What an interpreter! I would kill to have such a charisma as she does!
I feel like the genres of music this channel covers isn't appreciated enough. The music is beautiful and it's not too repetitive so you can always look forward to a surprise in the music, like a beautiful broken chord from the piano in the second verse that wasn't in the first, or maybe an extra drum part to emphasize the chorus. Its so beautiful
i hate to read comments under any good cover, cause not only people compare it with the original artist's one but y'all discredit the og artists. The fact that it's literally their song. If they hadn't put it out y'all wouldn't be spewing hate🤦🏻♂️ just say you like this cover , applaud her, her voice. What's not clicking?
They could place this at a hotel at the lobby, I love her songs so much
These are the best shows on KZread. Ariana Savalas is delightful and the back up is just wonderful.

really loved ur performance in Brighton! I think british granny and grandpa loved it too! Come back soon xxx
Not only do they make listening to these dreadful pop songs bearable, but they actually make them catchy and beautiful. The lyrics are fantastic, but half the time there is so much unnecessary noise and other stuff going on that you aren't even listening to them. But here, everything is incredibly executed but subtle enough so you can just enjoy the song for the song. I am very impressed by this, and praise you all for the hard work you do to put out such great pieces!
It's rather funny that after listening to the Swift version hundreds of times, it's only this version that adds double entendre to the 'I've got a blank space baby' line. It never occurred to me before.
