@irwin3036able Personally as a drummer, I don't really believe in a "play it as written" kind of style for myself or any of the bands I play in. I prefer to improv many parts live, But many bands especially those as prestigious as DT spend weeks in the studio crafting parts for the song, and so they feel that for their art to be expressed the way they intended, the original parts have to be played. Its kind of lame, at the same time if you made a replica of a famous painting you cant change it.

I think you’d like watching Hannes Grossman play his Blotted Science songs
the reason I like blake Richardson so much,,, no one else invents tom rolls like he does. just the way that he creates a song and incorporates his toms just makes me want to smile. best song ever made man I say it all the time
Still amazing. 2023.
Don't know why everyone is claiming he'd be prefect with Dream Theatre... he's flawless with BTBAM

not only are his skills amazing but his ability to remember how to play these songs over and over is also amazing.... cause theres no way i could remember all that over and over... so my hats off to you blake!
This is one of my favorite songs ever. By any band. Blake is a beast. Good work.

This is footage directly from the studio. They recorded video of all of his takes for every part in the song and combined all of the final takes into one long video.

He can do the full 102 minute Parallax album live. All of them can.
Its kind of lame, at the same time if you made a replica of a famous painting you cant change it.
love love LOVE this band
Ten years later - still incredible
He has a gloriously refined, rhythmic chaos to his drumming. Blake is definitely one of my favorite drummers to watch.
After a few months of listening to this song and watching this video, I can play the song top to bottom. I think they should put up these videos for every song :)

And They Are All Amazing!
10 years old and still fucking amazing!
This is magical
Blake is a winner at life.
WOW! Great performance and recording
I am absolutely jaw dropped in shock right now. This is just..absolutely fucking perfect. Flawless. Beautiful. Genius.
that is freaking AWESOME!!!!!
How do they even think like this....???. Love em!
Blake.. You are the best!
are you fucking kidding me. Blake is where I go to when the drums I program get stale because he is constantly pouring new ideas out. I'm not even a drummer and he is an inspiration.
this makes me smile.
That was the longest I've ever gone without blinking.
I leave this song with a sense of accomplishment, and that's only from listening to it. I can't imagine what it must feel like to play it
BTBAM is without doubt the best prog metal band ever to have existed. May they forever be fortunate.
Flawless
the fills are amazing, blake you're one badass drummer.
I met Blake at their last concert in Hollywood, he's such a chill dude! If only I got to jam with him
Perfecting a 9 min song of this caliber is amazing enough!
how does this not have a million views?
Legendary video
THANKS A LOT... now I can' unhear it :c
dudes. crazy. SOME MEMORY!
One of my favorite song ever made by BTBAM. Always love to see Blake Drumming
What a song ! Great musician
Quite easily my favorite drummer of all time. He's so fucking amazing.
BTB&M will forever be the best band in my opinion. All the vocals and instrumentals are so clean and well put together :3
This guy's a machine, an absolute amazing drummer.
amazing
Still have never seen anyone as fluid as Blake. Witnessing a living legend.
How can you dislike this?!?!
i love when his hands go blurry it's awesome
holy shit everything is just so clean.
awesome!!
I use to watch this video everyday in highschool.. I still know most of it on the kit just off the lyrics alone 😂😂.. This was when blake got a bit of recognition but now he's king ✊.. Finally.
