Adam’s commitment to the bit was admirable and hilarious imo. I think him and Taylor had a really funny give and take here and it seemed genuinely good-natured. Sometimes you need a little chaos to spice up a show and I enjoyed the fact that he mixed it up JUST enough to never know if what he said was going to be a real comment or just the @ joke

The fact that some people think she was genuinely angry at him is baffling to me. They're both solid comedians that have been at this for a long time, she was playing the straight man to his ridiculousness. For another example, see Jimmy Carr with Noel Fielding or Richard Ayoade on Big Fat Quiz--he plays the host maintaining order while they bring chaos to the show. It's part of what makes this show (and that show) great, you never know how it's going to go.

In 10-20 years, Taylor is going to sit down with someone like Norah O'Donnell or Lara Spencer to do a Barbara Walters style interview about her career and life. The topic of sexism and misogyny is going to come up. When that happens, Taylor is going to be able to explain to the world how her job that day was to placate an insecure manchild who was so jealous and/or threatened by a young attractive female getting her own T.V. show, that he couldn't just behave and do his part. He was so incensed that a woman was now in charge of the revised version of the sausage fest that was the tv show @midnight that he had to make fun of it. Add onto that her refusal to play whatever remedial negging courtship game he was tossing his ball into, and he lost all footing in the adult world. Bottom line: he didn't know how to handle himself with a talented woman who had control over him. He knew he couldn't just leave the stage because it would then look like he was running away. So, instead, he did his best to derail the game and make it solely about him. It was pathetic toxic masculinity in it's most juvenile form. I hope he matures soon.
