    I know these guys are insanely strong even without equiptment... but the bench suits are ridiculous. I'm okay with the belly pressing because it's technically legal. But no human should outbench their dead unless they literally have no legs.

    Completely agree. Who cares how much you can bench with an unknown assistance amount. Raw bench is the only way to tell how strong a bench is. Can we please move on from the assisted lifts? They're a joke.

    Its kinda embarrassing that the IPF equipt benching is this out of control. When did they change the bar positioning on the chest? You use to not be able to bring down to your belly...or am I mistaken??? 8. After receiving the signal, the lifter must lower the bar to the chest or abdominal area

  • @NatureFavor

    you are allowed to bring it to your belly, it has to stay still however, when joe benched the bar was moving at the bottom. That's why he had a hard time getting press command

    I know. I'm pointing out the new IPF rule. I remember it being that you couldn't bring the bar below your chest. Mind you I haven't competed in a USAPL or IPF meet in almost a quarter century so I'm sure they amended some of the rules.

    PgMergener deadlift suits only add 20-50 lbs to your raw deadlift I personally prefer to pull raw because it will allows me to get into better position. Squats suits + wraps can add 200-250 lbs to a single ply squat. Bench shirts can allow you to bench 100-200 more in a single ply bench.

    why are their deadlift so weak?

  • @PowerliftingbyFred

    @PowerliftingbyFred

    7 жыл бұрын

    Two factors. First, their girth makes it difficult for them to get into a good position for the deadlift. Second, they're lifting equipped and the suit and wraps adds around 200 lb to their squat, whereas the suit adds very little to the deadlift. If they were lifting raw there would be less discrepancy between their squat and their deadlift.

    These guys aren't as strong as they might seem. They couldn't even deadlift 800. In the early 1970's at the dawn of powerlifting there were supers with high 800 deadlifts that weighed a lot less. These guys now have strong clothing, gear, or equipment..whatever you want to call it. 322 lb John Kuc in 1973 dis a 905 squat with only ace bandages, 610 raw bench and 845 deadlift. The supers in this vid even had on deadliftr suits and couldnt pull 800 ! It seems like powerlifters have gotten weaker !

  • @standepain

    @standepain

    6 жыл бұрын

    To be fair the judging wasn't as strict back then. Now guys like Kuc were no joke but there is a videos of Reinhoudt hitching the bar and still getting a good lift. But there is also another video of Kuc and Reinhoudt just manhandling the weight with no hitching. Kuc also had a better deadlift at a lighter weight. He had issues getting into position and losing a extra 50 lbs just added that to his deadlift. ...at least that what Judd Biasiotto told when I would ask him about Kuc. These guys would get eaten alive by those greats.

    Competing in gear is really hard. Just being a little off in your technique, or being a bit too heavy for your suit can really throw you off a lot. Thats why you see so many more people bomb out in gear than raw. If you bomb raw, you picked your attempts like an idiot, but you can bomb in gear with great attempt selection.

  • @standepain

    @standepain

    Which is exactly why geared lifting is just dumb. I mean it adds almost 400 lbs to Blaine's bench. The judging here was pretty bad...if you don't hit depth because your suit is too tight, bring another that you can hit depth in. Rules are the rules regardless if you're handling incredible weight that 99.9 of the planet couldn't move.
