Novak the villain is played by Luke Goss, who in the 1980's was a massive pop star in the UK in a group called Bros with his brother Matt. From pretty boy popster to alpha killer vampire must be one of the more intriguing career progressions...

I loved Blade 2 and I agree on the whole it does stand up well today. The new vampires are really scary and you actually feel they are dangerous and a threat to Blade. But the last fight scene does not hold up in parts with the CGI jumping around scenes. Even at the time, I felt it was too fake and really took you of the movie by making it look like a video game scene.

In conclusion...I honestly think that y'all newaged peple are just softer and a bunch of crybabies who can't handle dark realities being dealt with in movies because they make y'all feel uncomfortable...but the weird part about this..is that y'all only feel this way about dark stuff that y'all deem to be on the opposite political spectrum that y'all agree on

I regret I never saw the Blade movies in theaters in the 1990s. I missed the first one, and by the time the Blade 2 came out, the first one was still expensive to buy or rent at Blockbuster, and I refused to see the sequel before the first one. Than by the time 3 came out, I had lost interest, and also The Matrix had come out, not just blowing away everyone's mind but making the FX of every and any sci-fi/sci-horror movies out at the time look dated, corny and cringe. (The Matrix made Star Wars Episode One look dated and corny.) So this year I finally, finally watched all three, bringing back good memories of the late 1990s. Not gonna lie, the sfx of all of them did NOT age well at all, but I still enjoyed them, mostly for nostalgia.

It wasn't a coincidence that they made the Blade movies R rated or they took a gamble and made them R rated. They had to do it to remain true to his character and his world building. I really liked a lot of the imagery del Toro put in this film. My favorite is the ending where Blade holds Nyssa as she turns to fire and ash in the rising sun. Such an emotional and tragically beautiful moment. Yeah, 30 Days Of Night did something similar as well and it was good, but Blade II in my book did it first

Good start to Halloween month reviews Stuckmann! Freaking LOVE Deltoro's Blade 2! Always been a fave of mine from his works (Cronos, Pans Labyrinth, Blade 2, Hellboy series and Pacific Rim are my top Del Toro faves)... It's Aliens meets the Blade verse with kick ass fight choreography (really inspired by WWF rassling IMO), GREAT practical make up effects with the freaky Reavers, and a solid story featuring Luke Goss' sympathetic antogonist (with early days Norman Reedus as the scuzzy traitor and DelToro regular Perlman a hoot)...and Snipes of course great as Blade :)

How sweet of Guillermo Del Toro to give Rudy Giuliani his first acting gig! 🤣😂. My dad and I used to watch this together all the time whenever it would come on the USA Network in the late 90s/early 00's it holds a lot of sentimental value to me for that reason, beyond it being so bad ass. Really enjoyed this review too, as always. Thanks for all you do dude

Yeah I just found that out myself when I was looking more at Snowman's profile to determine what abilities set him apart from the rest of the Bloodpack, and how they would influence a theoretical one-on-one fight between him and Blade. Of course Blade would undoubtedly win in the end, but a fight between the two would have been fun to watch regardless of the outcome.

Chris!! I watched these two movies last night because of this review and I absolutely loved them!! I fucking knew it was Guillermo Del Toro like 15% into the movie, his signature is just all over the place. But this movie was such a fun time, and I can't believe the negative reviews it got back in the day apparently (I googled) The relationship between Nyssa and Blade was really the heart of the movie and it all worked out magnificently. Both of these movies are way ahead of there time in terms of visual concepts and ideas. Yet to watch the third.
