Megan my tip I want to share with you is that many of these blade baits have 3 holes where you can attach the line. Each one offers different vibrations. The front one is typically best for casting. The middle for vertical jigging. The back one is best for hopping off the bottom. Ken Winston is my neighbor as well. Glad he was able to help you out.

Love the underwater footage. My favorite blade bait over the past few years is the Steel Shad. I like the thinner vertical profile of these baits -- looks more like the herring we have a ton of in my lake. Blades are really versatile. I use them bottom hopping like you show, vertical jigging, and like crankbaits or spinnerbaits in shallow or mid water depths. I often replace the trebles with single hooks which allows me to fish them around cover without hanging up on every cast , and also reduces the chance of foul hooking the line on the retrieve. I really don't see any decrease in hook ups with single hooks -- most of the time it seems like fish inhale these baits and don't just nip at them.

I looked at the steel shad when I was choosing baits to compare in the pool! I can see how that would be good on blue back herring lakes. We appreciate your comments and thank you for tuning in.

I started using blade baits below dams ive been using a green jig head 18 inches above my blade baits and ive had some amazing hook ups on the blade baits and the jig head as well

The only blade baits I have used are the Damiki Vault since back in the day when there was only the silver buddy. But I never had the chance to see it under water and do the testing like this. If you ever do anymore of this get a Damiki and try them out. Thanks for the good stuff.

👍. Thank you for the insights on these particular baits you featured. I will have to give the Keeburn and the Megabass Dyna another try as I find them to be very dull with the vibration as I am casting them and working them back to the boat with the standard life and drop. If you plan on testing more baits, I would highly recommend you try the Binsky by fishsense lures. You will be surprised on how fast the startup is on it. Close to that would be vib E which is a Midwest favorite

I believe in some cases , Take spotted Sea Trout that leave the ocean and go on land to fresh water creeks for instance . They are unlike striped Bass , Crappie and become very sluggish and are heavily pressured , I would believe the last bait with barely any vibration would be best for them

Just curious if you've ever tested these against the lure many anglers might think of when talking blade baits ... the old timer .... a Silver Buddy?

We absolutely appreciate Matt for his mention on his channel! I have rightfully been criticized for not including the silver buddy in this video. I tried to but could not get my hands on one prior to filming. It is the first blade bait I ever threw but unfortunately all of mine are up at my house in Wisconsin and none of the tackle shops locally had them in stock. Sorry.

I agree to a point. I do think that when they are biting the type of retrieve I described it is a reaction bite and the bait is small enough that you do get them. I can’t say I’ve ever gone to a single hook. But I have thrown the two hook baits a lot.
