    I have overactive bladder as well and it's awful! I'm 55 years old and hoping that I will be post menopause next April. I do love sodas, teas, hot chocolate, etc.. Everything you listed as a symptom I have. I constantly have to go but little comes out. I get depressed and have anxiety over this. And I cannot get back to sleep once I wake up. Eileen thank you for your video. I will try your tips. Thanks again💕💖

    Hi Sherri, I think you have already understood why this is happening to you - dehydration! It makes your urine very concentrated and then it irritates your bladder lining so that you have to go SO frequently, but only a dribble at a time. Drink a load of water for the next few days and see how much better you feel. The first day or so you will go a lot, but gradually it’ll ease off. The sodas and so on… you already know they are not helping, so I won’t go on about it!

    Thank you so much. This channel offers the best information about menopause. I have problems with bladder and I've managed to half sove them myself. You told me I am on right track and now I know that is alright if I take small sips of water through the day and not to be so afraid that everything I experience, is bladder infection.

    A.Vogel UK, this has been the biggest and worst issue for me since I’ve noticed the beginning of menopause. I am 50, and had some problems for about a month or more about 8 months ago. It felt like a bladder infection but wasn’t. It went on for a long time and I believe it finally went away when my naturopath recommended a colon cleanse with several different probiotics and more. Now it has been here for over a month and has been making my life difficult (unpredictably painful, uncomfortable, at times nearly unbearable). My naturopath also recommended something called Vagiflor (I live in Germany) and it has helped, generally, with the sharp pains. However, I think it keeps me up at night, as it turns to liquid and I need to get up about every hour to pee! Is this normal? Also, I have been drinking a lot of herb teas (which seem to help too) but is plain water different/better? Otherwise i have been following much of your excellent advice regarding diet, but how much water is necessary, and do the herb teas really not count as water? I am also using 2 homeopathic remedies, but I think I will look into cranberry tablets as you suggest.

  • @AvogelCoUk

    @AvogelCoUk

    Hi Karen Plain water is best for this as some of the herbs may irritate the bladder if it is very sensitive. I usually recommend at least 1.5 litres but you may need more to help keep the bladder flushed. If you have a weekend free it can really help if you stay in and drink loads of warm water throughout the two days just to ‘flood’ and ‘flush’ the bladder. The Cranberry Complex can be really helpful so worth trying as well. I also recommend a vaginal probiotic from a company called Optibac which goes well with the cranberry.

    @@AvogelCoUk thank you so much! I think I underestimated the value of plain water, and I think I do need more than a liter and a half. I THINK I may be noticing a bit of an improvement these last few days, with an increase in water intake, but I have become wary of being too excited about improvements too soon, as this has become a sort of pattern after each new"remedy". First a big improvement, no more pain, and then the symptoms start up again, some hours later, or the next morning. I hope the water's the trick, and yes, I'll try cranberry as well...

    @@AvogelCoUk thanks so much for asking Eileen. I had my period and the symptoms were almost gone, but now there back, sadly! I was at my gynaecologist for the yearly check up and she prescribed something called Gynoflor (has a very small amount of oestrogen) to be taken as a vaginal suppository, which seemed to improve things the first 2 days, but not as well today. I continue to watch my diet, drink much water, take flax oil with Omega (another German product called Dr. Budwig Omega 3 woman) and on... Also the homeopathic remedies Calmvalera and Sepia.

    Hi Lee, drinking good quality Cranberry juice, such as the Biotta variety, can be helpful to take regularly if you are prone to recurrent infections. Just watch for the sugar content as too much sugar may be detrimental! www.avogel.co.uk/biotta-juices/cranberry-juice/

    Hi Lee, as before just have a check for the use of sugar and/or sweeteners which could potentially have a negative impact. Water really is key so that’s definitely a sensible move! Avoiding caffeine is also often helpful. Some decaffeinated coffees have the caffeine stripped with the use of chemicals, so again, going for a more natural option is often a nice idea or trying out a coffee alternative such as Bambu which tastes very similar. www.avogel.co.uk/food/products/coffee-substitute-alternative/

    Hi This can happen as you can become much more sensitive to certain foods and these can also affect your digestion and elimination. The other thing that can happen is that your sense of smell becomes more acute so that you can smell odours that you couldn’t before. If you have a very close friend why not ask them if you ‘smell’ a bit more, if not then it is more than likely that it is your sense of smell that’s affected.
