I wasn't even alive when this was recorded, but by the time I was born in 1956, my preacher Dad and pianist Mom listened to this music all of the time. So when I was just a tiny child, I would go get these albums and put them on the record player all by myself and would sit down and listen to them. I've been listening to them ever since.

It doesn't get any better than this. Love those Blackwood brothers. Way too many tragic airplane crashes involving too many talented singers both country, pop and gospel.

That piano player was none other than Jackie Marshall. The finest, most talented of all piano players that ever played for any quartet anytime. The intro he did on this song cannot be matched. He was barely 20 years old and a native of Tuscaloosa Alabama. Classically trained and the inovator of the Blackwood harmony for many years to come. Thrills my heart to hear him play....always.

Jackie Marshall was Better because of classical music training & GOD'S giftings than Wally Varner who was a personal friend & a wonderful pianist.

This is my favorite lineup of the Blackwood Brothers. The tenor, Dan Huskey, Went on to own a seafood restaurant in Florida I believe. James Blackwood won nine Dove awards and deservedly so. RW Blackwood and Bill Lyle were very smooth singers. They died in a plane crash outside of Clanton Alabama.

Although I love to watch these vids again & again, one thing caught my eye that cracked me up. At the very beginning of the vid did you notice that the people who ran this show gave the piano player a cheap cane type chair to sit in. How cheap can you get? You would have thought they could have provided a nice piano bench to sit on. And then they put that tacky looking cushion to sit on. I guess it would give him a little relief anyway.
