I'm glad you found a pedal that's in good shape. Most things I see in pawn shops look like they were dragged behind a school bus and a couple dogs attack them from behind.

That’s the best distortion pedal I own and will ever own! I tell everyone about these, they’re incredible!

Awesome demo! I've tried these pedals. I've seen a lot of them for sale used at shops around Hollywood. The new Blackstar pedals seem really cool as well. I've never owned a Blackstar pedal or amp, but I will probably get one of their new pedals in the next year. I'm planning on getting a Gamma 25-watt solid state and using a tube overdrive pedal like a Blackstar to give it a boost. I think the hybrid approach is cool. Blackstar really has a good understanding of gain and the kind of gain modern players want. I also think their products work great for the sort of classic rock and British metal tones I go for.

Yes it's the same car, just restored. Restoration does have a wide definition and I appreciate where you were going on that. I LOVE watching Uncle Doug videos when he restores an old amp. Tried many overdrive/distortion pedal, the HT Dual was my favorite. It really kept the dynamic feel of pushing a a good tube amp. I had 3 of them, only have one working one left. It will be a sad day when it goes because they are hard to get now.

Pedal with a chrome grille, love it. Lots of fun to be had there

I have the Ht-Dist practically new with its box and power supply. I got it at a clearance blow out years ago. Great pedal, as well as yours, very under rated

Cool pedal! Versatile

I have a few of these pedals and they’re fantastic. They really benefit from the high voltage power supply. They were designed by the guy who invented the Marshall valvestate!!!!

Nice video and well done with your tweaking it. Looks in great shape too for a used pedal. I actually bought one of these brand new about 10-12 years ago and still have it. It is still brand new in the box as I only tested it when I first bought it. I think I will have to put it into service for recording as I forgot I had it until I came across your video. It’s a good one. It’s a gigantic clunker, and its need for its own power supply is pretty annoying, but beyond that it’s a great overdrive pedal.

Yo, Robert. This is sounding real ampy. Nice find. Totally off topic yet kind of on topic, though. Some time when you're not busy, it would be really cool to see a special episode on the bass behind you. This thing could probably coax some gnarly tones in that setting.

I placed that one in front of the HT-DISTX 😉 a lot of gain is never enough! 😀

Thanks! Just straight into the front of my Laney IRT-Studio, and then out to the interface and use a virtual IR in the DAW. It’s really nothing too mind-blowing.

I have one of these for a while now. I would say that, if you get one, buy yourself a spare PSU immediately, (aftermarket is fine but try to get a long lead block type). The supplies are a known weak point and a lot of them seem to just give up the ghost for some reason. You don't want to be caught out without a usable supply and not able to use it as the supply is 22V at over 1.1A. Don't skimp on current capability. That's not a voltage seen in any other music device nor available in the power block supplies you usually get. I have seen 16V supplies on ebay advertised as replacements for the HT Dual. The manual says 22V, stick to that!

​@@bordonbert Hi Albert, I have the dual and the dist, they are both labelled as 16vac 0.8A on the bass plate. The 22v DC are later models I think.

Your Question. reminds me of the johnny Cash Song " one piece at a time" I like hunting Pawn shops and antique/consignment type stores. Those Blackstar Drive pedals are great. That thing is a beast

Great video as always Robert. I have a HT60 and it's a cracking amp but not as resilient as my JVM but has great clean and gain sounds. Would you say it's better used with a clean amp or channel or as an extra on an already cooking amp ?

@@RobertWJackson The recent Blackstar Dept 10 tube Dual-Drive, Dual Distortion, and Boost? Other than being red? (My fav color! Haha!) That new-ish Dual Drive ticks a lot of boxes for what I'm after. Basically a proper voltage tube guitar recording interface. Currently on Sweetwater for $199. Original MSRP was I think $499?!!

Ah no!! Not same car!!🤣 Ped sounds flipping gt always been huge on Pro Co Turbo Ratt for slight preamp push too heavy distortion. I'm really liking this might add. Oh far as Voltage oh yeah big difference. Always pushed any preamp just a little hotter diffenently big difference for my Ratt & very old DOD analog Delay pedal. Gt video brother!!👏🎸🎙

Wow it looks like these things are going relatively cheap on the used market. Something to consider.

@@GuitarGuy4647 I think it's the size, weight and the extra power supply you need for this to operate. But it sounds killer for sure!

If you take out the tube theirs a light bulb behind it which makes the tube look as though it’s really glowing. I didn’t like the shared EQ.

Great review. Awesome pedal, too much of a hassle with the silly power supply. But if your tube amp's preamp isn't tubey enough, this is the fix. I like your reviews of old stuff. Especially old stuff that's a super exceptional value because people don't know about it.

I enjoyed using this pedal for a few years. Unfortunately, it broke at some point and it is - like almost all Blackstar products - almost unrepairable. That's why I no longer buy Blackstar products.

I own one of these, based on what I hear on the clip it sounds bloody awful.
