Blackstar Amped 1 - The Swiss Army Knife of Pedal Board Amps
I tried out the Blackstar Amped 1 at 42 Gear Street, but really didn't have time to get my hands dirty with it. In this video I run it through it's paces, and I have to say I am really impressed. There are some tones that I really really liked, and the convenience overall for guitarists is out of this world. I say it in the video, but it really does check all the boxes. Let me know what you guys think? Just so you know these are running about $499 US.

Great channel. Excellent playing and thorough reviews.
As always another excellent review video. I have ordered the amped 1 and I am patiently waiting for its arrival. Going to pair it with my Ritchie Kotzen RK5 fly rig. Cannot wait!!!

Nice!
Awesome demo!!!!
Glad to see the impedance load on these is actually at a more guitarist's speaker cab friendly 8-16 Ohm, instead of the typical wattage sucking and IMO misleading RMS @ 4ohm output ratings like on amps like the Vox MV "50" watt mini amps or SD Powerstage. The Dept-10 Amped-1 definitely ticks all boxes for me in terms of footprint, features, and tone! Awesome demo Rich! Great content as always! Cheers! 🤟
Great vid, and killer playing, Rich - as always! This looks like a really cool little piece of gear. Reminds me a little of the Hotone Nano Amps. I have the Freeze B - High Gain British version, and it;s pretty cool. I am also really interested in the Quilter Super Blocks. Lots of really neat little nano sized amps coming out these days, that don't sound little. If you know what I mean. And seems like the trend is catching on, that you can run them as an amp - or as an effects unit, or whatever, into other amps - and maybe even direct I guess. . Lots of possibilities. This one looks and sounds pretty tasty.

Dude! Ive seen the Victory ones but too expensive. THIS might be a future purchase!
Nice one Rich
amazing little amp
Lots of nice sounds, like you say, if it sounds and feels good, then it must be good.
I’ve been trying to decide on the 1 or the 2 for a year and now I think best move is the #1 to use as a go rig with pedals, thanks for your straight forward video demo

Amped one want one!🙂👍
Great video Rich, very well recorded. Loving mine as a live amp too. Quite a game changer to me. Shame on you for the valve dig! So called as they work as a 'valve' wouldn't you know😀 invented by an Englishman as well. Honestly though, nice job😉

Great playing and demo. You sold me on it and I ordered one via your channel link! Question, I want to get a 1/12 cabinet- what do you have or what would you recommend? Thanks!
@RichBischoff
Жыл бұрын
I have an avatar cabinet with a celestion vintage 30 speaker in it that I really like.
There are some awesome tones in that thing! Considering that it includes speaker IRs should it be run into a flat (wide) frequency response speaker? What cab would you recommend?
@RichBischoff
Жыл бұрын
Really it should, but it sounded damn good through my 2×12 Marshall cab. Actually the 8 ohm and 16 ohm outputs don't have irs, so it's literally like pluging in a regular amp. Only the line and xlr outputs. That said, if you're running a modeler there might be a better cab for that situation but idk because the Marshall sounded good so maybe on flat linear mode on the AMPED 1 it does some kind of eq curve to compensate for the irs in your modeler. Idk though I'm still learning it.

@@RichBischoff That sounds really well thought out - speaker IRs only on the XLR/line outs. Logical design wins! 🙂
Has anyone tried putting an electro acoustic through the Amped 1? Im hoping this can be a solution for gigs when i use an electric and electro-acoustic guitar
At 65 years old and 2 back surgeries under my belt im looking to lighten the load now too! deciding between this and the Quilter aviator USA cub model now.any thoughts? enjoy your channel a lot thanks

Hi Rich, I own an Amped 1, I always use the UK preamp with EL34 (as I saw you are doing in this video). My main disappointment regards the US channel, it is too thin in my opinion (above all the highs) it does not remind me of any of the glorious Fenderish tones, for sure it needs several pedals before to get a Texas tone or simply a fat overdrive tone. Thanks for this video

Any suggestions on how to improve the US, or how to get something like a Texas tone with Amped1? At the moment I get a nice overdrive tone with these settings: a strat, UK preamp, EL34, medium gain level, middle control boosted around 16 o'clock, cab rig 4x12 American with a 421 microphone, and then an overdrive (a Tube Screamer TS5 or a Boss OD1), but I'd like to have something better with more personality. Thanks

The US amp model, mine sounds really good with a Fulltone OCD infront of it, the just adjust you volume and eq controls to taste.
Very neat versatile little unit. The answer for many gigging players. Sounds like it takes pedals well. Cheaper than the Victory units, nice to see how they compare. Would also like to see how it compares to the Blue guitar Amp 1.
This pedal is good for playing metal and heavy stuff?
@RichBischoff

It's a pedalboard amp. Not a pedal.
Rich, very interesting product. I’m all for light transportation of gear. We all love tube saturation but lugging heavy heads and cabs Is not fun. When someone becomes famous for there tone using digital gear I guess then we will embrace it.

Right. In a bar I wouldn't have tube amp more than likely. All other venues I would probably have tube amp, so I get what your saying.
BTW Get a freakin' haircut ya' dang Hippie!😜 J/K✌
Gotta ask a respectful blunt question, if you average around say 5k views a video, its not enough ad revenue to even pay for one new guitar, yet you feature a new guitar almost every video. How do you afford a new guitar each video since your channel is not making enough to pay for a new guitar per a video? Do you have a rich wife? Do you chronically return gear for refund after video is done? How? Not dissing, I am genuinely curious since the numbers dont add up. Thanks!

Rich wife? I wish! If you're a regular viewer, you should know that I work with a local guitar store, called Main Street Guitars in Logan Utah. I even mention and link to them in most vids. 99% of the guitars I review are not mine, they are the stores. Also in full transparency I have brands who give me guitars in exchange for a vid. I also have nice friends who donate stuff to me. 😁

@@RichBischoff Cool beans, thanks for answering! Why do they let you borrow? Do they get a cut of the video revenue or does it help them sell guitars or are they just being really cool? Did you know them personally because I would have no idea how to just ask a store to let me borrow lol.
@RichBischoff

I'd been going into the store for awhile and the guy that manages the store knew who I was, so I just asked. He said they were wanting to do it themselves. "But was like sure if you want to do it". It's free advertising for them. Plus I refer people to them when I get asked where to buy a guitar, and I teach there one night a week.

@@RichBischoff Awesome sauce! Glad you found your niche in life and got a good relationship going with a guitar store. I was just curious as Ive seen many guitar youtubers and wondering how they buy something new each week, im sure their stories are different, but its interesting to hear how you did it. I appreciate the feedback, have a great day! :) On a side note, whats your FAVORITE borrow you have had from the store?
Why does every guitar KZread channel do demos like this of gear? The videos are all the same, someone soloing for 10 to 20 minutes. That doesn't tell you shit about how a guitar, amp, etc. sounds. It just always feels like a excuse to whack off for creators.
