This is why I enjoy you're channel so much.! Thank you!
Great question and demonstration video. People stealing video from others. I elected not to rant. Thank you for you're work and sharing.
Nice to see that you are comfortable enough to no longer need your bevel jig

Excellent idea. Something so simple that I would have never thought of. Thanks for teaching:)

Thank you Big Dog IOU 1
Very cool Tim. First time I have seen someone do this technique.
Wow.. I now I have an idea for my round pipe... didn’t realize People stole youTube videos ... that sucks. Nice to watch!

Sorry to hear about the plagiarism. Appreciate the info, have been pondering how to do canister without a welder.
Tim that’s absolutely awesome thanks for the tip and technique! I noticed the new logos before you said anything then you said why so I hope they help stop the theives!
My style of vids with the narrative. No hemming and hawing and umming. Thanks
It would be great if you put up two videos, one long version, for the loyal follower who watch every video showing the whole process, and a second shorter one for those who have the attention span of a goldfish...P.S your work is beautiful
Amazing demonstration, thank you for this!
This was a good idea. Im wanting to get into making damascus. I may just wait until I get a welder. You can get them pretty cheap anymore.
Love it Mr. Tim. Had no idea you could make a canister that way. Do now. Thanks for sharing 🙏blessed days sirSir Crawford out 🧙♂️
Love your grinder Sir.
I wanna see this guy on Forged in Fire! I bet he'd win.
Outstanding, another piece of information in my tool box...Thanks Tim...(y)
I wondered about this because I know if you don’t seal your weld good it starts oxidizing (or something) and it looks like the forth of July and spits sparks out like crazy. Thanks for the video.
Incredible as always Tim!
Very fun to watch (and informative). Nice tip about logo on videos. Thanks again Tim

Thanks for the video. This was the one video of a knife that actually shows the difference between the solid steel and the powdered steel. The overall result is amazing and fantastic. Have a wonderful week.
Great job! Again I have learned something new! Thanks Tim
There are forged pipe fittings. Only thing we can use at work. But your not going to find them at your local hardware store. Pipe supply is where we get them. Great info though tim.
Thanks for shering.
Thank you, cause I have a grinder, but no good welder. Much love from Sequim, WA

I think it would be kind of cool to do a gumbo Damascus that's bits and pieces of saw blades salty nails finish nails and Fish Hooks and Springs and see how that turns out🤞
That is good to know thanks. Another quality piece.
It's a real shame that people steal the work of others to present as their own.
Awesome as always Tim
Awesome Tim! Check out machine and fabrication shops. They would have all sorts of drops, that could be used for canister and plugs. 😀👍👍⚒️❤️
Way cool tim I also had that question. Thanks for showing this technique

Great work. It's like watching Emirel Lagasse.
Awesome video. I have never seen this done before
I wonder what it would look like if you used a mixture of Ballbearings, Fishing Hooks and Finish nails? Just an idea for a future challenge maybe?
Good job Tim

Tim!! I just had a thought, you could use this same technique to do Canoe Damascus. In this case you line the canoe with what ever it is you want then seal it of in the same manner you did but instead of mild steel use high carbon. Pretty much created half a San-mi, once its all drawn out just fold it with the high carbon inward. Then you have a Damascus Billet with a high carbon center
I love this i been looking for this for awhile
I like this method over the welded canister TBh. Those plugs allow for exactly what you did xD
Great video
Very nice
Nice words of wisdom at the intro Tim, and i would never have thought about doing a canister damascus this way, realy cool pattern too.

Great job with the canister Damascus 🥳I’m in the process of making a katana from solid square stock steel 😁
Молодец!!! Все очень круто!
Why do I see this method showing up as a challenge on FIF LOL Nice Job Tim !!

that's good to know even if you have a welder. I had to have my welder fixed, the board and it was out for a month!!!! take care from ohio
This has a lot of useful information, but if someone has a power hammer and a surface grinder but not a welder something is wrong lol

i ask the question, i do not have a power hammer i have a big hammer and an anvil. my grinder is pedal powered.
Here's one for ya! Can you make canister Damascus without a welder and without a power hammer or press? Just to make it hard.... Can you do it in a coal forge?
@BIGDOGFORGE
4 жыл бұрын
I made it without a power hammer or press, welded it by hand after it was out of the can then I drew it out with the power hammer. never tried it in a coal forge but I think so maybe we'll just have to try it I guess... Thanks for watching.
Where you been I’ve not been able to find your video

Power hammer is more of a luxury in a small hobby shop but it saves a lot of time and my old arm . Thanks for watching.
Ok I live across the road from a thrift shop, and there are always baggies full of old nails/nuts and screws. Really random some days. The quality of the metal is all over the place, some are plated in chrome some are galvanized and some are possibly some form of copper alloy. Without being "picky" could a person (not me, I'm a meat tower dweller waiting for my liver and kidneys to be harvested) canister such an assortment of unidentified metals?
@JunkyBlake
4 жыл бұрын
keeperofthegood that could be used but would not hold an edge. Canister Damascus is high carbon steel powder with various high carbon steel "objects" each object gives a different pattern that is all they do. The carbon content makes it an effective blade/blade edge. The mix you talked about could possibly be shaped into a knife but not be a good working one
@keeperofthegood
4 жыл бұрын
@@JunkyBlake So doable but not for the purpose of usable knife work. Decorative blades or other decorative metal works this would possibly work for. Is there issues with the galvanized metals or chrome inside the canister? I know both of these can form toxic fumes when burnt in air but sealed or in allow are they safe?
@bortgov8624
4 жыл бұрын
@@keeperofthegood I wouldn't mess with any galvanized materials to be on the safe side.

@@JunkyBlake Well you could also weld it to a high carbon steel core San Mai style if you really wanted to.

Hi Tim, very cool use of a water pipe! I have a question for you. Have you used circular sawmill blades for knives, and, what type of steel are they? I've been told a few times that most are 80crv2, and would like to know what you think. Thanks.
One day you won't be able to call this a "little channel" :D

can you please make an Ōdachi please? i love your videos
Can I use stainless steel pipe?
