It sure brings back memories of when I went to Blackpool with my Mum & Dad when I was about 8 years old at the time, we sat just in front of the orchestra. I watched your video with interest as I was trying to search for my parent's names. It was about 1958 at the time (I think) it could be more or less a year but not after 1961 as we went to Australia to live. I know that they won the competition as we took the Trophy home & was allowed to keep it for a year. It had their names on it in a type of a shield. I have all my Mum & Dad's photos, newspaper clippings, & films of them dancing. I am coming to England next year as I have never returned since I was 11 years old & it would be nice to pass on their memories & history of my parents. If you could help me to find out who I should pass it on to I would really appreciate it. They worked so very hard to get to the top & I know that they would also appreciate it. Thank you for this, brought back a lot of memories. Especially the earlier ones in the 60’s. I grew up in Blackpool, two streets away from the Winter Gardens. My cousins and I were all competitive dancers, as couples and formation dancers. We were taught by the best at the time. The Beautiful Empress Ballroom was our practice floor, the original parquetry was amazing, how lucky were we, to have had it, before it was damaged. 2006 - 2009 champions Mirko and Alessia in my humble opinion of this segment are beautiful to watch, their line and footwork so very good. Her dress doesn’t overpower so you can view her feet properly.

@@mirkokwokfunacc Yes I have not long viewed a vid on KZread whereby they got together nine years after she retired, dancing a few of their old routines. It was as though time stood still. Mirko is of course now married to Edita. Blackpool and my time of competitive dancing there, still holds many special memories. Not to mention one of the most beautiful ballrooms in the world.
