The girls before they joined the agency as trainees are as follow: Jennie joined in 2010 when she was 14 and on her rebellious stage as a teen. She braces herself to confronted her mom to let her choose music as her future. Lisa loves to dance and has been into dance since she was 3. When she joined in 2011, she already an established dancer. Joining in, 4 months after Jennie. Jisoo, with her natural beauty and friendly nature, joined in 2011, a mere 3 months after Lisa. Everyone thought that she's in the wrong agency. But she shown them that she choose the agency's style over others that would probably suited her looks. Rosé joined in 2012 after her parents dropped her off in South Korea from Australia. She used to be in her church choir and also her school cheerleader. She was pushed by her dad to pursue music since he always caught her singing Beyonce's song, on the top of her lung at 1AM in the morning.

I've been watching them literally (Literally.) every day for the last three and a half years, I still haven't even seen them get dirt on their hands! (maybe an ink smudge during a fan signing, but it's wiped off within seconds!) Just joking of course, I think one of them may have dropped a pencil once in 2017 (off-camera) The truth though is that they're all sweet, sincere, hardworking girls who've put in the time and deserve all the success that they're due.

The Korean industry and artists in general are very reserved. This was why I always had a hard time with truly becoming a "k pop fan". But all that changed for me when I became a blackpink fan. From all of the kpop groups I have followed, blackpink is probably the most open one. As far as getting to know blackpink (or any kpop group, for that matter) this is the most info you can get regarding their debut, hustle and company experience. ( The rest would be pure speculation) Kpop is famous for mass producing good music, but for me, blackpink was able to captivate me through their own personalities, individuality and struggles in an industry where most girl groups I was following,in my opinion, had a very manufactured or artificial personality. Also their sound as a group is something I could also vibe with as their music is very similar to western music and has some occasional English lyrics, whereas other groups are too cute, too girly or too over the top for me. Your reaction to BP was probably my most favorite of all because of how genuine it was and I also had the same experience as you when getting to know the group. I cant wait to see what you react to next 💕😊

BLACKPINK was originally slated to be a nine girl group. I_dont_know omg. Me too! My friend is a huge fan of BP. When they had a concert here she was so upset she cannot come cos she has no one to go watch it with. She came to me and cried. The day after their concert I decided to search who this group is and why they made my friend so heartbroken. that same day I stanned so hard I watched all their MV and listened to their songs in a day. She was actually persuading me ever since their debut to listen to them, but im just too stubborn to do so. Biggest regret of my life.

Just a side note.... those lighted Pink hammers you see, especially in large crowds, cost from $30 to $80, depending on which one you buy. They have them available on their website.

YG is a huge entertainment corporation, although there some smaller ones. Those girls were paid a pittance (but I read they had room and board) worked 14 to 16 hour days, 6 days a week, for 5 years, with no guarantee they even get their debut, even if they lasted longer than any others.

So basically to become a kpop idol you need to be trained to perfect your singing/dancing/rapping skills and improve your stage presence. Many companies conduct auditions and if you pass these auditions you can join the company as a "trainee" and get trained. In south Korea there are many companies but there are 3 companies also known as "THE BIG THREE" which are most popular and to become a trainee in one of these three companies you have to be exceptionally good. Also idols of these companies and well known and get fame earlier/easier because they are from big three. However training in these companies is super tough and super long. The big three includes 3 companies-SM,JYP and YG. BLACKPINK is a girl group from YG ENTERTAINMENT, one of big 3. They all trained from 4-6 years!until their debut in august 8,2016. Jennie joined first in 2010, followed by Lisa who was only Thai person to pass YG auditions among almost 10000 people. Jisoo joined YG in 2011, and Rosé was last one to join. They all have been living together ever since and have developed an extremely deep bond. As their fans, we, BLINKS support them even in their hardships. Even if they are from YG ENTERTAINMENT. Many people run away because training is very tough. But they endured it. We want to get them what they deserve. That is why they are where they are now

korea has this big3 companies that made historical impact in kpop yg is one of the big3 companies and to debut in one of the big3 companies is rlyyy hard lisa from blackpink said that she had to go against 4000 girls who wanted to audition and since shes a foreigner she had to learn korean but no one was allowed to speak to lisa korean in the company she had to learn it as fast as possible and she managed to. after that she trained for 5 years+ with hard work she managed to debut under yge new girl group blackpink in august 8th 2016 now about Jennie jennie trained 6 years under ygent it was also rly hard for her she worked so hard and was a popular trainee since she collabed with famous yg artists (while being a trainee) like : Gdragon Lee hi etc. now Rosè she trained for 4 years+ since she lived in Australia she did the auditon from there and got accepted rosè's parents used to take rosè to korea and then go back to Australia since they had their jobs there its was rly hard and also rosè was a popular trainee too since she collabed with yg artists like gdragon after 4 years+ rosè also managed to debut now Jisoo jisoo trained for 5 years she was featured in some yg artists songs like "Hii Suhyun" mv she also was an actor in some series while she was a trainee after 5 years jisoo managed to make her debut also and that is how Blackpink was formed

All 4 auditioned to become trainees at YG entertainment, Jennie and Jisoo in Korea, Rose' in Australia only one accepted out of 700, Lisa in Bangkok only one out of 7000(not a typo). Jennie was a trainee for 5 yrs 11 months, Jisoo and Lisa 5 yrs 1 month and Rose' 4 yrs. Fun fact Jennie is a great cook and Lisa can't cook a lick. Oh, the "naked buddy" thing; soaking in a hot tub together is a cultural bonding thing in Korea (not co-ed) with family and/or friends. Yes, in KPOP there are entertainment agencies that recruit (sometimes from outside of Korea, which is why Rose is from Australia and Lisa is from Thailand) young performers for training in hopes at some point they will debut in a group at some point. Some only train for a year while there have been some cases where there have been trainees who have waited over ten years to debut in a group. Training is hard and it's usually very strict, dating is usually not allowed and of course other normal social activities. Once they debut in a group, it can still be restrictive but usually the companies lighten up. There are three major companies in Kpop: SM entertainment, JYP entertainment and YG entertainment. They are known as the Big Three. Blackpink is signed to YG. Each of the three biggest companies have their own distinctive vibe. YG takes a lot of inspiration from western Hip Hop and R&B. Because of that there are more English speakers at YG than most of the other companies in Kpop. There also dozens of smaller companies that have groups and solo artists as well.

Awards in Kpop are over saturated. There's three musical shows that award the most popular songs (sales, downloads, views, votes) each week. That amounts to almost 1000 awards handed out by years end. And that's not including year end awards similar to the Grammys, American Music Award and MTV award. Because BlackPInk has by far the fewest numbers of songs, they trail other groups by a landslide in terms of total awards won. So I definitely would not put too much credence to musical awards when it comes to Kpop. BlackPink is often ridiculed by other fandom for their lack of releases. Since becoming global superstars, they've spent far more time making commercials, being spokesperson for numerous global clients, such as Chanel, Celine, Kia, Samsung, and so on. Idols usually don't make much money because the labels take a huge chunk in the early years to compensate for the huge investment in the training process. In 2019, the BlackPink members were all reported to have each earned over $10 million (US dollar) through their tour, appearances, and sponsorship. YGE, their label company has been rocked by scandals and financial difficulties. The belief is that they're using BlackPink for mere profit which means more touring, more appearances and more sponsorship. We'd be lucky to get one comeback a year, where as other groups make as many as three comebacks. For now BlackPink is a victim of its own success.

Her names are Rosie, Rosé, Roseanne Park and/or Park Chaeyoung. Why choose on when you can have four? The other members call her Rosie or Chaeyoung most of the time. To me it feels like Jisoo calls her Rosé pretty often even outside of interviews. This is how I've understood her name...err...names Roseanne Park - Her English name, the one she used when she lived in New Zeeland/Australia. Her "real" name as in on birth certificate and stuff. Rosie - short for Roseanne Park Charyoung - her Korean name. A lot of immigrants have names from both the country the family comes from and they live in. Rosé - stage name In fact the only one that uses her birth name if want to be technical. Her name is Kim Jisoo. Jennie was named Kim Je Nie so I guess she can get away with it. Lisas name is more interesting. Her birth name was Pranpriya Manoban, but it was changed to Lalisa Manoban way before she auditioned to YG after a fortune telling. Lalisa means 'the one who is praised' and that fits pretty well since everyone praises her. As they should! They give a very brief explanation that makes sense how that system works.

Basically the company they're in (YG entertainment) is one of the biggest entertainment companies of South Korea. Becoming a trainee there is incredibly hard because it's the home of Kings of k-pop Bigbang. Anyone who debuts under YG has incredible amount of attention to them so they have to be really good, otherwise the company won't debut them. That's why these girls are some of the best gems a person can find. Fun fact: All the girls from Blackpink were recognised and praised by G-dragon aka the king of K-pop when they were only trainees (which is a big deal even for established artists) which only proves how talented they are

To be in a k pop company isn't easy. It's very hard. It's competition. Strong diets, only 4 hours (or something like that) to sleep. 6 days in the week of fckn hard work.
