Never surrender 14, 15 only against an ace or 10, and 16 against 9, 10 or ace. Basic strategy

Yeah, the count was negative too so the right move was to double down the soft 17 and hit the 12. Although the optimal move was not to bet in the first place when the count is so atrocious

You know when you draw off face cards by busting you greatly increase the dealers chances of not busting, next time just stay on low hands, it's never likely that when drawing on a 12 or better against a high dealer hand that you will win, you have better odds of hoping for the dealer bust, also drawing extra cards will hurt youre chances of future BJs
