The blackbuck is currently the fastest terrestrial mammal in India. While the species is distributed across the grasslands of Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and south India, they are heavily threatened. Rampant destruction of grasslands across the country remains a major threat to the species, as this catalysed human wildlife conflict.
