I’d Rather Burn Lyrics:
--------------------------------------------------------
Verse:
I'd rather go to the stake
I'd rather go to the stake
I'd rather burn, oh I'd rather burn
I'd rather burn at the stake
But know I'll return and I'll be dead awake
I'll be dead awake, rising from the stake
And when you hear the following tune
You'll know, you'll know
When you hear the following tune
You'll know that I'll be with you
And when you hear the following tune
You'll know, you'll know
When you hear the following tune
You'll know that I'll be with you soon
I'll show you I am capable of causing such pain
With my delicate and fragile lady brain
I will not let you get away
I'd rather burn at the stake
But know I'll return and I'll be dead awake
I'll be dead awake, rising from the stake
And when you hear the following tune
You'll know, you'll know
When you hear the following tune
You'll know that I'll be with you
And when you hear the following tune
You'll know, you'll know
When you hear the following tune
You'll know that I'll be with you soon
Dadada dada dada dada dada da
Dadada dada dada dada dada da
Won't let you take my soul away
I'd rather go to the stake
I'd rather burn, oh I'd rather burn
I'd rather burn at the stake

Honestly only a handful of artists do their research into the witchy occult and esoteric imagery they try to depict in their music and she’s one of the small handful of bands who actually do their research. Good job. And I give you props for putting the spirit at the top of the pentagram where it belongs. I also give you props for not turning witchcraft into a Harry Potter’esk depiction. And further props for not overly modernizing traditional witchcraft. The dress on the singer is relatively time accurate for the only part of the world who’s ever actually burned witches at the stake. So props to you on that as well.

"I wont let you take my soul away, I'd rather go to the stake" I believe she'd rather die than let people try to change her or control her. That might be the context. Hence why it appears medieval, people back then did nothing but try to control women and take away their humanity and freedom to be themselves. 2:43 Correction: SomeONE was trying to do the things listed above. But due to her resistance they might have framed her and tried to get her killed. So instead of letting them win and rule her, she would rather go to the stake than change.

When cross chaining like that the people holding the leads are supposed to surround the person being led. The point isn't pulling strength, but to ensure the prisoner cant lunge at any of the guards. Good song though.

I literally stumbled onto this one, and I am so happy I clicked on it! This is wonderfully done, the costumes, the way it is shot, and those slow pans especially as she ascends to the stake and screams I felt were very powerful. And of course that dark sound....yes, I love that too! Reminds me of another band I love to pieces, Within Temptation. Rock on, guys! 🤘🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🤘
