A lifespan of a pigeon is 5 years at average. A lifespan of a carrier pigeon (the pigeon they are talking about this video or show) is 15 years at average. It's an "average" lifespan. The longest lifespan of a carrier pigeon ever recorded is 33 years, so it's still possible.

Notice at 1:18 that Rowan is trying so hard not to laugh. That is because that short bit where Melchett said Blackadder is to be shot took ages to do, as Hugh Laurie and Rowan kept trying to make Stephen Fry laugh. The Cavelier years explain their social descent. Blackadder was a royalist and a member of nobility right up until he and Baldrick were cornered in the kitchen with the baby prince by the roundheads, when Blackadder reflected that now would be the time for a man of honour to risk everything for the king, but that being a Blackadder, he's not a man of honour and quickly changed sides and wigs.

My god! The depth of writing and performances is unmatched to this date, this is by far the best comedy I've seen. It all started for me with the queenies loud screams in season 2 which I thought was fairly funny, and it still is, but later as I started comprehending the dialogues a bit more, this was just too special. I still watch at least one episode almost fortnightly and I'm surprised I still find nuances and dialogues I'd missed all this while. Brilliant!
I adore 2 and 3, but I think this is my favourite scene. Fry is just brilliant.

LizBiz87 I think he does the things he wishes to do. He's always been an incredible actor, and I mean it - his facial expressions, the humour, the gestures and of course the language. The thing is, he was born comedian. Laurie chose the path of a serious actor, Fry worked on other projects, but don't forget he's not only an actor. He worked a lot on his books and documents and had interest in real political/moral/religious issues. I think he's done well.
I lost it completely at the "no it isn't!"
Calling one of the judges to the stand... BRILLIANT move by the prosecutor!
You can tell that Stephen Fry was also caught off-guard when he said "...the formality of sentencing the deceased- I mean the defendant." It's the funniest part of the series for me
