Just when I thought they were all out of danger... at around 11 weeks one young cygnet disappeared. It broke my heart, as I had been filming them every day, enjoying their rapid growth. I still see the remaining 3 everyday. This week the five (including parents) flew along my lake together. Very memorable and beautiful moment. Hello Mike, Well, I could come up a very intelligent answer (it's Friday night and my brain has withered from TOO much filming this week!) or I could say, maybe they were once all white and our scorching sun was the problem!... we all turn that colour when we sun bake for too long! As for the 'red'... red and black are very fashionable together! (smiles!) For whatever reason... they are truly a magnificent, elegant bird. Thank you for enjoying my 'special' week! Laura, that's so sweet of you. I take that title to 'heart'. The parents left the nest on Friday, two days after the last chick was born. It's hard to believe they take them on their journey through life so young. I look for them, and check on them every day, all the while hoping that they will be safe. So far so good! I saw them late this afternoon. They are already growing, and appear to be so strong. As their godmother (smiles!)... I'll be watching out for them. Hugs to you! Bella ❤

What a fascinating and beautiful little family. I was sure that last egg was no good but the mother knew much better than I and persevered with her duties.
