This community-facing event will be an open discussion with Dr. Moten that engages the prospects of several of his theoretical keywords -- including the undercommons, fugitive aesthetics, partial education, and black study -- for thinking about the relationship between Black Studies, the academy, and Black community.
Fred Moten is a Professor of Performance Studies and Comparative Literature at New York University. Seulghee Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature and in the African American Studies Program at the University of South Carolina.
