@Music Music agh, the filmmaker, it's not on an easel so it isn't art. the easel isn't made of tanned hide so it isn't real art either. the paints aren't oil based, discard them. why get caught up in definitions? the video has a solid narrative and a satisfying conclusion with good filmography. from a documentary standpoint it's just very well made. this video is an excellent piece of content, and you choose to be pedantic over the label of the artist?

Just to clarify...not everything is free. It is encouraged that if you take something, you offer something in return. For example, many of the camps we patronaged were food, drink, and dance camps. But in return our camp offered simple bike repairs, lights or batteries for those that needed them, and as we roamed the playa at night we gave away lights to Darkwads. Darkwards are people who do not have lights on them or their bikes at night. The desert is very dark at night and if you do not have any lights you will not be seen, it is very dangerous!

I guess I didn't actually know what Burning Man was, thought it was a pretentious music festival of some sort. People always talk about it so dismissively or like you should only go if it's "ironically" but this seems genuinely special and interesting, and maybe even worth experiencing if a person could manage it.

What a joke to criticize this festival. Volunteers stay a month afterwards and walk 4 ft apart picking up ever single trash or cigarette bud. Real burners are encouraged NOT to wear feathers, glitter or bring in food you cannot eat completely. You aren’t even able to “tarnish” the Playa with water(yes, showers are fully trapped with evaporation areas). The biggest tenant of this festival is radical self responsibility (this includes your water, trash and everything most don’t think about daily). It is a gifting society. I’ve gone more times then I can count snd it’s cleaner than any city elsewhere. If you want to ban this place then stay out of every other large city and any traditional concert or theme park. Yes, I’m bothered by people trash talking this place. Most likely from folks who have never been or lean towards being hyper judge filled.

im surprised this video only covers the surface of the burning men fest, what you would see is amazing but what you feel and experience is another level. all the most created, inspiring and eccentric people you would meet and the conversations and the connections you would encountered is a lifelong experience. many of the art installations are interactive, the night of the burn of the man is a huge celebration where all the burners danced around the burning man, on the other hand, the night of the burn of the temple, everyone were filled with emotions and teary eyes

I've been 12 times and the temple gets me every time. You stop in to look around and think you'll be OK, and then you see someone's memorial to a lost parent, to a beloved dog, or a worn stuffed animal with "miss you little brother" written next to it and it hits you and you're sobbing and hugging someone you just met. There's just so much raw emotion there and you realize how our society hides pain when it's actually all around us - and it also shows you that the love and support we crave can be all around us, too. I don't think Burning Man could be what it is without that emotional catharsis. You can't just go and party and demand "good vibes only" because you're denying the reality of the human experience. The openness that lets you share joy also lets you share pain and deepens your connection to others because of its authenticity.
