Okay- with that, when ijfa, came out, and I love that album, it may have been able to get put in the thrash bin, but, BUT, because I've been doing this music thing for a long time, long enough to remember when I justice hit the shelves, and watching how the band changed and grew and who they really are, I can't, personally put them in any sort of thrash category. Some members of this band formed Palace in Thunderland. They got a couple of cool albums on you tube. Its more catchy, unique sounding, psychedelic and creatively more mature.Great duel guitar jams, riffs and solos.Downtuned, loose and heavy with lots of groove and dynamics. Actually, Palace In Thunderland was around way before. The first incarnation of Palace was 1998, we have demos for "Sonic Throne" and "Into The Maelstrom" from back then. I had played with Monte Newman and Adam Abrams of Palace since 1994, we were in a prior band called "Skyball." Black Pyramid was originally intended as a side project, it took off and developed a life of its own for some reason. Glad to hear that you're digging the Palace In Thunderland material though, it has always held a very special place in my heart.

Pretty good album overall I see some people bitching its just another Sabbath imitation, but Everyone bites off Iommi,Butler,Ward,Osbourne Who doesn't? Hard to make a move in metal, doom, stoner, desert, sludge etc, without pulling water from the same well as the Sab Four. Not really a bad thing, as long as the band brings their own style to the table with it.

Andy Beresky - sometimes it is as much to do with proper application of equipment than the equipment itself. I have been researching this genre of music a lot lately - one problem I have is that it can often sound all a little same-y to me. Not this though, this album has really stuck out with much more dynamics and originality. By the way, I make hand made, high end boutique guitar pedals. I have a pedal called a Bat-Drive that would be so great for this style of music. Anyway, look the pedals up on Facebook, search Rafferty Guitar Pedals. I'll be recommending your album to friends. Cheers.

alexredefined91 That song is actually "Visions Of Gehenna", "....And The Gods Made War" is just the intro. I wrote this song July 20087. long before Apocryphon was even conceived. The Sword had one album out at that point, and the first show "Black Pyramid" was booked for was opening for The Sword. At that point, we did not yet even have a band name or a bassist. We recorded a demo, got a bassist, named the band Black Pyramid, did one warm up show, then went and opened for The Sword. That was the first four months of the band, and I'd spent one month prior to jamming with Clay, Black Pyramid's original drummer, writing material that would eventually morph into the first album.

Palace in Thunderland I hav only recently gotten to know The Sword, saw them at RoskildeFestival 2014 i think... Quite wasted but not a day wasted. So what you are saying is that you had a collaberation of some sort? Whether it was completely voluntary or not could be up to debate? Either way, sweet lyrics and awesome music! Please keep creating rythmic propulsion hymns for us hedonistic hethens ;)

No collaboration, I mean, I smoked a joint with the guys because they said they needed pot on the road, and we talked about Iron Maiden. That's about it. Thanks for the compliment!!

Does anyone know what genre of art that album cover is? If someone could tell me, that'd be a great help.

check out Henry Clarke and the Decadence movement, the cover is stained glass windows, but artists like Aubrey Beardsley have a similar drawing style

I'm really into Symbolist art, was impressed with the artist's knowledge of the genre, and asked him to make something in that vein while also incorporating elements of his fairy art as well. I also really like fairy art.

Wendell Mackey Well, I can tell you exactly what I was listening to when I was writing and working on this album: High On Fire, Acid King, Electric Wizard, Sleep, Black Flag, Black Sabbath. I do like Om, though I wouldn't consider them an influence, especially seeing that nothing they'd released at the time even had any guitar on it.
