As a Hispanic guy, I absolutely love the culture of the Talocan people. Their design, their language was just beautiful. Their symbol I'll admit doesn't hit a strong as the Wakanda symbol, but it still had me doing it. And I love the actor of Namor, he was phenomenal and such a strong presence when he's on screen. Edit: After watching it again, honestly I can't stop doing Namor symbol!

@@15koolaid You really need to ask yourself what "white" is to underwater fish people... 😂 What they did is give the character a much more interesting culture and backstory beyond just skin tone. Which was light brown most of the time in the comics anyway so it actually makes sense for someone who has black hair and brown skin to be Latin American. Also, creating a copy of the Aquaman movie would have been a mistake. Especially when the sequel to Aquaman is coming out a year from now. Instead they created a character that is interesting and unique that fits within what they've established in the MCU.

Tenoch has talked about of how his agent in México tried to get him roles in different types of movies portraying different kind of characters but in Mexican society there´s a lot of racism and classism so he was always type casted as stereotypes whitexicans have about brown and poor people. Any Mexican movie you watch the whole cast is white (I'm talking mainstream commercial stuff), like they are ashamed of showing brown people to the world or something. And now this dude is making marvel money and also playing a character that is all about those roots a lot of people try to forget, roots that are living in today's world in many ways just as they did centuries ago and they´re so mistreated by the government and society in general and foreign companies mainly from the US and Spain that steal from them all the time. Idk I 'm just typing shit all I wanted to say is watching this dude flying so high with his silly foot wings makes me really happy.

I know what you mean. I had a good cry recently that was loud, where I just couldn't stop bawling. But, if I may say, there's a good trick where you can have your cake and eat it too. You can use your air to get out a good cry. Meaning that you can use a long inhale to hold it in, and a long exhale to release it. I know that sounds silly, but it kind of works. Granted there will be short yelps or noises with your exhales, but the way to cry hard while still in public it's all about the expulsion of your air, in my opinion. Pretty goofy I know but I thought I would comment. ❤️ If I sound weird / crazy or don't make any sense or if I helped you out with this weird bit of advice please let me know. :-)

I really loved this movie. N'amor is a true anti-hero and is depicted in a true sense of the word. He is also someone who uses his power to attack any perceived threat. It's easy to agree with it, and yet that makes him even more dangerous. Fantastic. The only problem I had was with the fight scenes in the ocean & with Riri's "Shiny Suit"; both worked more in a metaphoric sense than they did when put into visual art. That felt a lot like Marvel Studios overreaching to sell toys.

SPOILERS: I just got back from the theater and I LOVED IT!!! I was very happy that my entire theater stayed silent for both of the tributes, one during the logo and the other when Shuri was on the beach. You could really feel that the actors are mourning the loss of Chadwick so their performances are so genuine. This whole movie was a love letter to him and it was very respectful while letting the actors let out their emotions for what they are truly feeling with him gone. I think they did a great job and the action and set pieces were incredible as well. I just hate that they killed Queen Ramonda 😭

I said useless because a stupid trophy shouldn't define your success or acceptation, but an actor's skill and dedication to their craft. There have loads of actors who'll get that stupid trophy and yet, many have a hard time getting another acting gig. Or the flip will be many respectful actors who have never won those Hollywood Awards, but are still beloved though and the contributions they had made without it and still to this day. Angela for sure has made her mark as an actress, a phenomenal actress. She already has shown her acting abilities and the respect she has earned from many people.

No, he didn't get what he wanted, but he got what he could have gotten if he and Queen Ramonda and merely sat down and discussed their situation like rational leaders in the beginning. While this movie had excellent action and drama, its foundational scenario was what Roger Ebert called the "dummy plot." The basic plot depended on people acting like dummies and not talking to each other like rational human beings. Wakanda and Talokan had no natural animosity between them. Namor and Ramonda had no natural reason for personal animosity. They both, however, had exactly the same interests: To keep their nations secluded and their vibranium away from the rest of the world. Namor's insistence on killing the scientist who invented the vibranium sniffer was just plain stupid. How could he suppose the US government built the device without having the plans to build another, or that the scientist hadn't kept notes, or even that only a single scientist had devised it? That was a stupid supposition for him to make, which is why his original demand that Wakanda kill "the scientist" a stupid proposition. That both leaders were so quickly willing to expend the lives of hundreds of their subjects rather than to sit down and discuss their real national interests makes them stupid leaders. In the end, after hundreds of deaths and vast destruction, Namor came to the conclusion he and Ramona should have reached over a single pot of coffee: They had no reason for hostility and every reason to become allies against the rest of the world.

It actually puts two opposing views that of idealism like Shuri who's young, and those of Namor who's old and has seen the horrors of our past first hand. I loved that each of the main characters have a purpose to the story, instead of just being brought in for fun sake. Not that I have a problem with that either, but every main character here worked. I was worried about the length of the film because people were saying it was slow, but after watching it, it honestly didn't feel that way. The pacing was great, there was no useless subplot with the except of 1 maybe. And the acting, some of the best in the MCU. Action was good, and there were some great tactics.

I haven't seen it yet but I think what has impressed me right off the bat is that they dealt with and honored what Chadwick Boseman brought to that role (cause remember, he started that role before Black Panther the movie) and the fact that, in light of his illness, he fought so hard to continue to present the story. To try to shove a new T'Challa into it would have completely disrespected him, and completely turned off fans brought into the universe thanks to Boseman. To address this all in the film, which they do by addressing the death of T'Challa is if amazing. And if the accounts are correct and Shuri is the new Black Panther, that makes it even sweeter. There is so much here to dig into. Marvel seems to be leaning into the realities behind Black Panther much to their credit.

Recasting another actor to play T'Challa isn't disrespecting Chadwick what so ever. That seems a rather selfish thing to say and to think when there can be loads of other actors who may had a chance to play T'Challa. Wouldn't that hinder another black actor to play T'Challa and how much a miss opportunity that any actor would have loved to tried? Would a new actor playing T'Challa be different? For sure yeah, but I'm beginning to question to if fans miss T'Challa or Chadwick? There's a huge difference. Besides that, there have many times in film history where the original actor died from unfortunate circumstances, but there has been many times of a recast though. William Hurt, a respected and beloved actor, died, but Harrison Ford has been cast to play the character though. So....is that disrespecting William Hurt or.....? It shouldn't and I have yet to hear anyone really say oh it's disrespecting William Hurt.

I love this movie so much and I want to see it again. It's in my top 5 superhero movies. It's such a character driven movie that you just felt the grief the characters were feeling. Huge props to Letitia Wright for going from supporting player to being the center of this movie under horrible circumstances and handling it with grace. You really felt his presence and the impact he made on everyone on the set. It felt real with how they handle his death. A movie that's celebrate the strength of black woman. The women handle things in this movie without ever overdoing it like a lesser director would have. Namor should come back cause he's so good and you understand what he wanted and you were on his side for the most part

I’m happy seeing y’all happy! Great review! I saw so many elders in the theater with their grown babies and grand babies! It was beautiful! I forgot it was a Marvel film.
