That staff is already a 100 level weapon, known in the mythology as Ding Hai Shen Zhen (Stabilizer of the Seas), is pretty much as strong as you can get. There are a few other ones with strong buffs but in terms of attack the staff is prolly already maxed out. The other ones include the Jade Pristine Flask (absorbs enemies when they answer to calling) and the Plantain Fan

​@@leonidaszatchbell2122​ JinGuBang and Ding Hai Shen Zhen,both of them are right.the stick was stabilizing the sea,so it called Ding Hai Shen Zhen(the stick that stabilizes the sea)and RuYi JingGuBang(hard to translate sry)was the characters engraved on the stick.

As far as actual mythology goes, Wukong does not use any other weapon. The staff used to be a totem for measuring the depth of the sea and can change it's size at will, it already is one of the most powerful weapons in any mythology.

(may be some from other ancient Chinese books, like The Classic of Mountains and Seas, aka Shanhai jing, which was written back in the 3rd century.)

I'm impressed that you managed to fit an hours' worth of fighting the scorpion boss into a 45 minute demo.

In addition to the offline trial play held in Hangzhou, China on August 20, there will also be a trial play in Hall 6 of the Cologne Games Exhibition, and the time is August 23-27.

One of the interesting part too in this game is that, when you are died, you are really "died". It actually does not work like some other game which revert back the time or so called "load" back to the previous save point. Instead, you are died and become a little fur back to previous save point and resurrect. When you back to the boss that defeated you before, the boss will say "Why did you died and come back again just to suffer more" something like that. This is really detailed and interesting part of the game too.

Wukong is killable. Just has many lives lol. He can’t die of natural cause but gods and demons definitely can kill him.

The demo play really delivered the expectations built up by all previous trailers.

Bethesda took 7 years to make Starfield, Elden Ring took about 6 years after DS3. This game announced in 2019, it’s only 4 years. It’s not even on the longer end of the programs.

I'm glad we got an explanation of how the poison mechanic works.

Man, I'm so hyped for this game, I've been following this game since its announcement, can't wait to try it out

Looks goddamn amazing, even if the visual fidelity of the exploration part has dropped down a bit. The enemy designs and their movesets look truly excellent. This is one of my most anticipated games, for sure.

The dynamics of the environment reacting to the players and bosses actions are amazing. Animations and special effects are breathtaking

It has been such an exiting journey to follow this game´s development since its first trailer back in 2020. So hyped! 🤩🎮

@@v1nigra3 these afterimages look lame and gimmicky and dodging doesnt seem to take any strict timing or skills. meh. Dodging in Monster Hunter is always satisfying cuz it has measly 6 frames (half as many i-frames as rolls in lame souls games for example), and sidesteps in Nioh are delicious and fluid, also have few i-frames and if you learn evade cancel, you're in for some DMC sh*t :D My hype for this game has completely died since its combat looks nothing special

Love the jungle setting. Beautiful yet creepy.

In the myths, the staff can be expanded or shrunk to any size Wukong wanted. Would’ve been cool for it to be shrunk into a needle as a stabbing weapon.

souls games look like crap actually, don't trust IGN, they just abuse the soulslike term for clickbaits, this game doesn't look like souls and doesn't seem to play as clunky as souls either, so probably there is only something in the UI that looks similar to souls and that's enough for IGN to call it a soulslike, it's pathetic how they give souls credit for what other dev studios do better than the souls creators

For numbers of weapons, at least in the source material WuKong only uses the Jingu rod because other magic weapons don't meet his standards. But he can changed to characters that use different weapons in the game so that could also count.

And it wasn't a fire ring,it's a spell where people could get out of the inside and youkai couldn't get in from the outside, and Wukong used this trick to protect his master when he went to find food

Journey to the West is an original novel so reading it won't teach you much about Chinese mythology. You'd learn more reading a book on Chinese mythology, or reading the Wikipedia article. Or read Fengshen Yanyi. It's also a novel, but unlike Journey to the West is a retelling of Chinese myths.

Can’t wait to play it.

As for spells, since everything in the game is very loyal to the books, Wukong should have all 72 of his spells, and his staff is the only weapon he would ever needs (it can transforms)

There's no way he broke it down to us how poison works in almost every video game that included that mechanic. 😮😮😮
