what sets black myth wukong apart is not only because of ue5 but also the rich chinese cultural heritage it represents, and how the devs was able tofully capture that in the games arts. When the first trailer came out, the dev team spoke to an interview saying that there is not one ancient/ traditional chinese asset in epic database, most were japanese inspired. And in the coming development, the devs went all across china to collect photo scans of ancient chinese artifects, statues/sculptures and architecture... Every architectural and sculptural element in wukong, you can find real life versions of them. This went as detailed as the chinese fonts in the gamescom demo, the caligraphy was also collected from ancient chinese scripts, every poem describing each boss is either sourced from the original journey to the west or from a variety of ancient chinese texts.

There are no one ancient/ traditional Chinese asset in epic database because japan began to snatched a huge amount of ancient Chinese documents that the white colonial invaders could not understand at 200 years ago until the end of ww2. The interview meant that when the past decades japan development video game China was seriously lagging behind in this field, so it was the most time-saving to use japanese architecture module the style inspired by China. However, after many Chinese players reported that this was wrong, they finally decided to visit key preserved monuments across the country to conduct comprehensive 3d scanning to build up they own database.

The game offers three stances namely smash form pillar form and thrust form, each leading to a different kind of heavy hit and enhanced heavy hit, which means different heavy hit combo and double heavy hit combo. These forms can be switched freely during combat, and all enhanced heavy hits can trigger hitstun. 1. The smash stance tempo is fastest one.A pro tip for skilled players is that you can make a parry by using a heavy hit combo at the exact moment right before the boss's attack lands on you. 2. The pillar stance’s enhanced hit allows you to stay in the air, avoiding some ground attacks and stylishly smashing back. However, maintaining this stance rapidly depletes your stamina. 3. fun fact: the last boss clucked like a Chicken because it's a Chicken form creature. In Chinese fairy tale, Chicken originally has horns, but the Dragon borrowed them from the chicken and never return them. The Chicken got really mad and killed the Centipede who vouched for the Dragon.

Been a Journey to the west's fan since a little kid, watched all the series and now I'm about to witness one of the best game ever made

Apparently this game can run smoothly on 1660TI 1080p or dynamic 4K on 4070, however on consoles there are some issues with frame rate drops, they still have almost a year to polish this game, it will look even better by then.

actually this game is so flashy and responsive that in some ways do "fix" a lot of problems some people may have with Dark Souls and such, so.... yeah

game looks sick af, probably the best looking game i've seen from a chinese dev, graphics and gameplay wise

His staff can change size so he turned it into a needle and puts in his ear at 2:10.

You get one year to learn Chinese if you want to enjoy the game completely🤣
