Black Mountain Insane Hills for ORV/ATV Scramble Area in Cheboygan Michigan

Black Mountain ATV/ORV Scramble Area in Cheboygan Michigan just north east of Black Lake. Showing the scramble area parking lot, entrance, main area's, steep hills, deep sand, getting stuck and more. One of the best scramble area's in the area, it's a must if you own a 50 inch or less vehicle. Scramble Area is just a short ride from the Bluff's restaurant and Black Lake Trail Trailhead.

I grew up riding here. We had a place on Black Lake next to Doriva beach (my grandparents Dor and Iva Miles). In the 70's, you could take trucks in. The big face we called Shaboom. Across to the other side was a narrow, very steep hill we called #6. This was a ski lodge years ago and the hills were ski runs. They were challenging on dirt bikes or snowmobiles.

One of the best scramble areas we have been to for anything 50 inch or less. Would love to have seen what it all looked like when it was a ski resort, might need to do some research. Thanks for stopping by

There was a fire tower at the top of one of the nearby trails. My father's x partner in business bought the tower and took it to a farm in Iowa. Something else interesting was an open garbage dump near Doriva Beach where we would sit and watch bears come in from our cars. We would put out left over pancakes for them. Good memories. My father owned what was called The Chateau Lodge on Twin Lakes Rd. The name was changed and it was upgraded but now is closed I believe. It had an airstrip for small planes and was owned by gangsters. They owned a strip club and bar called The Black Bear on M33. Thanks for the video. Here is a story I wrote based on an actual encounter my girlfriend and I had at Black Mountain before the upgrades. donmilesxfiles.blogspot.com/2012/05/paloma-run-by-don-miles.html?m=1

Great 50 inch or less scramble area, the trails and routes right around it are very good also. A couple of nice restaurants and campgrounds near by as well.

One thing I don't know if you know. Is the Black Mountain scramble area used to be a ski resort.

We use a Magellan TRX7, we’ve had it for awhile now so there may be better options. I believe it is satellite based so always is connected and has worked well for us so far.

Was just there last Sunday. We Love it there. Went to the Hills over on the Corner before Black Mountain. Aren't Your Machines in Fourwheel Drive? We did have any of the Problems that You Encountered, and we are on Sport Quads! My Problem was I was half Way up the Hill, and my front end was bouncing up more than it was on the ground, so I stopped to let Lee not to come up the path that I was taking, and then when I started back up the Hill, I became Stuck, then I went back down the hill in reverse, and rubbed the Burm, and Flipped down the Hill. Other than that, no Problems. Maybe you needed more speed!

Yep was in two wheel drive going a bit slower than she would like to have been. On her last quad it went in and out of 4 wheel as it needed to so she got used to that, just a bit of getting used to the new quad and will be all set. We have done those on our sport quads in the past as well, our 250 wasn’t so great on those hills but the 400 could run em all day. Our old two stroke sport quads had some nice kick

Absolutely! Just had to get used to this machine a bit no issues now. The Polaris I rode before I would just put into awd and never had an issue. Just a bit of an adjustment
