Pulling together South African electronic heavyweights Afrikan Roots, Buckz and MÖRDA ‘Takala’ celebrates Afro and Tech House in joyous polyphony further underscoring Black Motion’s undisputed position as Africa’s leading electronic pioneers.
“Originating at the Black Motion studios the track was inspired by our camera guy shouting the Venda word ‘Takala’ (which means ‘happy’) while we were producing the beat. It stuck with us and we showcased that mood, the elation and happiness on the track. The general theme and narrative of Takala brought a lot of healing to the team and we couldn’t be any prouder of everyone’s contribution to the track!” - Black Motion

This song is a tribute to the history of the Venda People. The flag and the coat of arms of the then Republic of Venda which was eventually absorped into the Republic of South Africa. The former president Mphephu Ramabulana. The motto=Shumela Venda which means "Always aspire to serve Venda" or simply "Serve Venda". The artwork also shows the contribution of Venda in Pretoria, Soshanguve (Sotho, Shangaan, Nguni and VENDA). During the production this song Nyekx Manyemula, a member of Afrikan Roots was seen chanting the lyrics to Dj Buckz who turn them to chants.
