Nicola Calzone i think its less of her being angry at him, but herself. She has rarely provide support for him (for very good reason), and hearing her own kid is a pedophile is quite traumatising. Her daughter would be unable to function as all her friends received the message and her moms reaction is a mix of confusion and disappointment. She is angry at both herself and him, its a reaction thats very well-done because of its traumatising nature. She is unable to rationalise at that moment

Nicola This is an extremely ignorant perspective. You shouldn't hate people who act like Kenny's mother- it was completely justified. I doubt even you could cope well with hearing that your own son, the beautiful child you thought you knew for the entirety of his life, was a predator. This is also not a matter of suicide- I am sure that Kenny's mother wanted to help him in any capacity after finding out about this.

    G. G. You do come a off a little bit like someone who uses the subreddit r/iam14andthisisdeep. The point of black mirror is sparking debate and different opinions my dude, if there was only one ‘right’ response to every question the show poses imagine how boring that would be. The show isn’t trying to ‘tell’ us anything, it’s showing us different stories and scenarios that usually have a key theme of technology and then letting the audience debate the morality of each episode. If you think there is only one, uniformed response that people are allowed I feel sorry for you. I’m not defending what the hacker did as right necessarily, I more meant that I am happy the main characters got exposed for what they did. Forcing kenny to do the robbery and murder was wrong, however hacking and exposing their crimes publicly was right in my opinion. I didn’t mean that I supported what the hacker did as a whole, simply how he exposed them at the end.

  • @g.g.3262

@@kiri7678 Well I'm not 14 but this is actually deep. How can you say that the show doesn't want to tell us anything, obviously who made it had a story in his head and wanted to show it to as many people as possible. Of course there isn't only one reading key of each episode, but there are some things that are pretty clear. This episode wants to surprise the public at the end, showing that the main character, who used to be an hero, has actually done something wrong. It shows you how we all tend to judge everything either white or black, true or false, victim and executioner, when often reality is way more complex than the thoughts of someone who isn't in a situation like that. P.S. I'm not english so it's pretty hard for me to actually write my opinions and thoughts and make people understand what I'm saying, I hope it's all clear enough.

What really fucked me up about this episode is aside from the message, Kenny is so young when he is caught. Most pedophiles are perceived as older men, usually fat or ugly, or usually just not a good person. But Kenny is a young, young man and he acts like he has a good heart and best interests in life, that's why we were on his side at first. The story tricked us into thinking "what did this guy do wrong? He's a good person" but the real message is looks are deceiving and that the person you least expect can have the most dark, perverted mind, regardless of age, gender, race, relationship, circumstance. You just never know

@@cheeseball2967 Exactly. Way more people need to accept that people like Kenny are not necessarily horrible human beings despite the awful things they do, and that they are mentally broken and need help. Of course, society is so fucked these days that merely saying what I just did is sure to get people crawling out of the woodworks to claim that I'm a "pedo sympathizer" or something, but that's not the case, it's merely that people seriously need to stop seeing everything in absolutes. Even truly good people can do horrific things, that doesn't excuse those actions, but that also doesn't mean they are always a lost cause either.

This episode, and this twist, are one of the rare ones that actually gets BETTER on a rewatch. Most twists dont. But when you rewatch it, you can see all the nuances that you never noticed before, like him being so 'sweet' to the little girl with the toy at work, like him being so fiercely protective of his laptop to the point of putting a lock on his door. As much as we're inclined to feel bad for kenny though at no point does he ever experience remorse for the KIDS. he still just feels sorry for himself and only worries about his own reputation. He even kills a man to protect it.

Because without people like Kenny there wouldn't be a market for these twisted fucks to make videos. Arresting one single person for watching that porn means he'll be put away for several years, losing the ability to actually move on and hurt a child. Once he gets out he'll be monitored, which is good, and he'll have to stay away from schools, and won't be allowed to keep children alone. So yes, it's a mental disorder, but it still needs to be punished, because he's taken the first step to actually hurting kids. A person probably goes from having urges and being attracted to them, to looking at porn of them, and finally trying to act on those urges.

As someone who was sexually abused as a toddler & exposed to the cp industry, I can tell you that is false. Ever heard of the dark web? If there were no demand, there would be no supply. People make child porn because they (or others) are attracted to it and want it, which means there is a demand for it. If no one was attracted to it or got anything out of it, no one would make it, because there would be no need for it.

This episode had many messages, but I feel like the most prominent message out of all, *is to show us how a family relative would feel after finding out their son, or nephew, or cousin, had done something so heinous even with all the good memories you made with them. This episode really made us empathize with him and made us root for him, just like a family relative would when they see their loved ones battling with mental health. It hits us with this reality and it's up to us to know how we're going to deal with anything similar to that, if it ever happens. No one really thinks about, say, a mother's love for her son AFTER she just finds out her son's dark side. Like a really bad dark side.*

Hear me out though, maybe society needs to stop demonizing those people. If I'm to believe that people have no control over who they are attracted to, then what am I to make of it? Obviously if you act on it you're a monster, as it's rape, and rape of a child no less, but maybe if those people could get help without being ostracized by society, they wouldn't keep it inside until it burst and they hurt people, IDK. As far as I know, the character didn't molest anyone? It's hard for me to hate him for his urges, even if I find them exceedingly distasteful - otherwise I'd have to hate gay men (not comparing pedophelia to homosexuality, just saying those attractions are alien to me) But any of them who act on their urges are monsters. We all get sexual urges(to adults, for most of us), we all know how easy it is to control them - I've managed to go every day of my life without raping a woman, it was so easy. It's not like sexual urges are compelling and impossible to control. They are making the decision to ruin a child's life

No one would ever disagree with what you said. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t feel empathy for Kenny. No matter what horrible things someone does you should always be empathetic/ compassionate. I think that’s one of the take aways from this episode. It shows that you cant have a black and white code to judging each other and that despite the circumstances of any giveN situation there’s always room to be empathetic. The fact that so many people could observe the horrible way Kenny and the others were treated, feel so bad for them throughout the episode, and then upon hearing what they had done immediately turn on them and hate them I think shows exactly what the creators wanted which is the tendency for humans to act as the judge jury and executioner of others despite never being innocent themselves.
