If that's her first time doing make up on non-Chinese woman - girl did good!!! (And she let you film). 11:58 you look beautiful! And the example you gave was more or less a 'natural makeup' make-up with lighting and editing that brought out the highlights. Lot's of people are so good at doing make up on themselves but terrible on others. She probably used the darkest foundation she had (may even have been contour product) and was the wrong tone (e.g. warm-neutral-cool) - but she blended it really well that it still looked great! She also accentuated your natural features. I wish she would have used a deeper mauve-y pink blush that had a bit more of a glow &/or a bit more highlighter but again, it may have been the deepest shade she had. If you went back to her again I bet she'd stock up on products that suit dark skin! From a makeup artists point of view, had she pulled out products for dark skin when she probably doesn't have anyone of that customer base - I'd be more wary, especially foundation, concealer etc. products...as in - how long have those products been open/laying around for???! I always ask customers what brand & product number they use at home themselves to ensure I have it in my make-up kit (I'm based in rural Ireland so most customers are either pasty white, pinkish or a generic fake tan colour 😅). When stocking up, I always get additional tester colours of the foundation products I use filled, so if they are a repeat customer I now have it written down to know the exact colour match for their next appointment and that way I don't have products going to waste from being open too long. (I also use darker shades for contouring anyway). I hope you give her another go ❤ Also you mentioned about hair - I've seen other people post videos on KZread about how Chinese hair salons/barbers did really well - I think once they know what it is they NEED to know, they are more than willing to learn and get it right for you!
