We hiked it via Cathedral Spires in June 2023. Very nice hike although Cathedral Spires is challenging for about a 1/4 of a mile. It was a warm up for The Bighorn Mountains Wyoming. Nice video.

Fantastic! It is a perfect time to go when the rest of the country is dealing with heat. I wish I was there now to do some hiking. Such incredible places to go!

I hiked up here in May with some friends and we stopped here before going to Yellowstone. Fairly easy hike but being me scared of heights too I agree that it gets a bit tough near the top with those stairs. It was foggy for most of the hike for us but the fog cleared when we got to the top. This hike is definitely worth it.

We love Custer State Park, it was one of our very best vacations when all the kids were still home. I highly recommend the ranger led activities.

I wish we had a little kid so that we could do the junior ranger stuff. My wife says that I'm too old to do it on my own. ;)

Hi friends. Loving your South Dakota videos. We've not been out west but definitely want to check out South Dakota. So much to see, do, and experience. The lush green with the beautiful blue sky is just gorgeous. Good old Jasper-carrying his own pack. The views as you neared the top, Chloe and I both said out loud "Oh wow". That's just breathtaking. Thank you for sharing your adventure day.

Nice 🙂. I just came back from there and stopped at Sylvan lake but didn't have enough time to do the hike especially with a 4 hour hike. I will go back again I enjoyed the needles highway drive and Sylvan lake.

it isn't as difficult as they say. Do NOT pack as heavy, like these guys. one back pack w a six pack of water for 2 dogs and 2 adults is all you will need. The registration of hiking isn't needed. Also, you can see 5 different states from Harney.

They missed the geological surveyor mark on the peak over. missed down stairs. Missed the out house. Missed the water pond. Watching videos like this makes me realize I am in the wrong business....video production.

What a wonderful hike, thank you for sharing. My wife is a Geologist and says that the shiny rock you were sharing is actually a mineral (or actually group of minerals) called Mica. Interestingly enough it has been used in the past to make windows and is still used to make high temperature windows. Really enjoyed the video. Peace and safe travels!

Take note of Dr. McGillycuddy's grave (ashes) on the way up? (On the left on Trail 9.) The doctor was the Post Surgeon at Fort Robinson when Lakota chief Crazy Horse was killed.
