@Hashtag EV I thought the same at first, but realized that Connor doesn’t bring the heart, the will to keep fighting out of bad situations, that Dustin does. He kinda melted when Dustin started pouring on the pressure. Felt he did the same with Khabib, lost the mental fight when his plan didn’t work.

Lol well pay attention, get a bag and take a class! I wrestled when I was young, my mom dated a guy who was a sparring partner for professional heavyweight fighters in the 70s he taught me how to box in 90s. And I’ve never done BJJ formally but I learned a bunch of chokes in the military. And there is still always someone faster bigger stronger or sharper then we are. These pros are on levels above the common man. It’s like me and you are almost in the same boat if you think about it lol because it’s not the same boat those guys are in lol

Conor looked flatfooted to me like he expected a pure Boxing fight with same old Dustin. I mean the way he is talking about the Calf Kicks almost like Dustin invented them or something. I feel like Conor hasent been following the MMA meta for a while.Or he expected he could train for Dustin and Pacquiao at the same time since both fight out of the Southpaw stance.I feel like the Mayweather fight was a blessing and a curse on one hand it made Conor rich af on the other it made him commit less to the sport that made him who he is.

*First time Conor fought a kicker.* *Conor can't really check those kicks properly in his usual side-on stance or his modified hybrid stance. A muay thai stance would change his boxing game, meaning he wouldn't be able to load up as much as you can with a wide stance or put the weight through that lead leg during the straight left.* *Conor's UFC record against grown men with a full camp who weren't dehydrated is now 3 - 3.*

@@haza123b4 can you stop copy pasting this everywhere? It's not the first time he's fought a kicker. The straight left down the pipe every time someone throws a leg kick has always been a good deterrent. And his checking against orthodox leg kicks and kicks to the thighs also did a great job of stopping the leg kick. Hell he literally has a finish due to a checked leg kick. Everyone he's fought apart from Khabib has tried the leg kick in some capacity against Conor, if they didn't get finished first.

checking them works and has worked for many years in Muay Thai. Countering on the kick is also a great technique but has to be timed well or else it stops your momentum if it hirts first - Teep with the front leg does both avoid the kick and counter. Switching to an opposite stance would be my final adjustment if checking fails or person is willing to gamble their shin v your knee/calf/shin.

Maybe leg kicks werent previously effective against conor because they were from an open guard stance meaning theyl be hitting the bone side of the leg. Dustin making it a closed guard fight had his rear leg kicks hitting the meat of conors leg, and you have to turn out your leg a lot more to check em which would break conors usually wide stance, wheres he didnt need to break it that much to check open guard kicks like eddies

The Calf Kick Renaissance has been going for a couple of years at least at this point. Not considering them is a blatant oversight. Then again, Conor and his team didn't seem to have learned anything about how to deal with Bull Guard from the two fights with Nate, as evidenced by the Mayweather bout.

I don't understand how Conor's team wasn't prepared for this or Conor saying he hasn't felt that before. He's clearly received hard calf kicks previously in his career and the clips show him checking Nate's kicks in a "calf kick battle" What the hell were they doing in preparing for this fight?

4:40 proves he needs a new coach, still calf kicks are fairly new, the kicks conor has taken before have been on the inside mostly since he rarely has fought southpaws, thats why it was more noticeable this time, he couldve switched to orthodox to avoid this, but jhon cant say other than praises between rounds apparently

I'm trying to find out how me and many fight analysts pointed out all the ways Dustin could win. Yet conors team didn't expect head kicks or wrestling 🤦‍♂️ i didn't expect Dustin to make as good adjustments with the striking. But I did expect conor to come out with his traditional style, array of attacks and an ability to check leg kicks. Just point your toes as far outwards as you can. That puts your shin and knee in line with the coming kick. Whether you lift the leg or keep it planted. Just point your foot out lol

First off, I'm surprised you are surprised. That wide stance has always had that vulnerability. Its the reason I was dying to see Conor fight Jose. Conor is completely reliant upon elusive movement and once he loses that spring in his step he is there to be hit. I figured legkicks and using wrestling to wear him down was always the best strategy against Conor (besides being a freak wrestler like Khabib). Secondly, as much as I want to see Dustin v Justin 2, we have already done that and Dustin shouldn't be going backwards right at this moment. I think Justin has evolved significantly since then, but I also think that with him coming off a loss, and Oliveira coming off his 8th consecutive win, Dustin v Oliveira is the fight to make for the title. Meanwhile I would love to see Gaethje vs Chandler.
