I love how every song in Vulnicura references and "revises" previous songs that Bjork wrote about love. "Atom Dance" is referencing and revising "Unison", and it has such a beautiful logic. The first 30 seconds of both songs are very similar in their structure, their timbre, and even the notes that they use... But the themes of "Atom Dance" start up where "Unison" ends. In "Atom Dance", Bjork is no longer in unison with her lover... instead, she claims a unison for herself: a unison with the world around her, and with the listener of the song. This is what will heal and sustain her. (And, of course, "Atom Dance" transforms, halfway through, into a musical duet which abruptly pulls the song into a new shape. It is the sudden unison of voices the signals the song breaking from "Unison"... and blooming into a new, more sustainable type of unison.)

We are each other’s hemispheres I am fine tuning my soul To the universal wavelength No one is a lover alone I propose an atom dance Our hearts are coral reefs in low tide Love is the ocean we crave Restlessly turning around and around I am dancing towards transformation Learning by love to open it all Let this ugly wound relief We fear unconditional heart space Healed by atom dance When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me! We are each other’s hemispheres We aim at peeling off dead layers of loveless love No one is a lover alone Most hearts fear their own home Come in themselves fully It scares them all When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me! No one is a lover alone, no one Most hearts fear their own home You are my same hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing No one is a lover alone, no Most hearts fear their own home You are my same hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing Atoms are laughing at last At last

if this song had a music video to go along with the beats and melodies I would definitely see 2 small atoms under a microscope, then zoom out to a spider dancing its web, then a bird caught in the rain, a thunder storm by the sea with waves crashing, lighting striking the earth and becoming roots under the soft wet ground... the climax of the song would be two snakes interwining and mating.... this is how I imagine this song to be like... very primal and yet so very simple...

Es como si esta canción fuera para toda la humanidad, una poesía minimalista y sutil. Creo es la más esperanzadora del disco y donde explora un terreno musical algo distinto y poderoso, alguna forma de redención con el universo y consigo misma. Otra obra maestra, sublime.

I was guided to the stories of the heroes, and Venus told me to see myself when I look in her eyes. This had not occurred to me. I had always seen everyone else's eyes, but I had never seen my own. I reclaimed my sould this way. It is now my own again. The duality of my aspects has merged into one. My male and female have merged into one. My body and soul have merged into one. I now need no one, and am bound to no one. I am free, but I know I am the first because I am the herald. By virtue of being the first, I know that you wait for me now. You will be the second. I can call upon the gods and the goddesses to help me. Angels and demons bow to my will. The world of the material is inconsequential. I shall complete my journey in the world of symbols. When I have beaten all that is in my way, then I will return to the world of the material. Then I shall set your human free.

You clearly say the right things. I wonder how much you know of what and who you are. Your appearance has not only merged with me. You have grown now. You are not only my experience of being human. At present you appear to be the kitchen's experience of being a kitchen. I must be learning this dance well. Soon I may need a dance hall to contain it. Ultimately, I determine, an entire planet. The entire planet is gripped by forces that drag me lower. My dance must lift me a long way to maintain success. I am led to learn things, the secrets of what is coming. What is coming is not as good as being here. I must learn to let it go, and dance, but my curiosity is inbuilt. That is what brought me this far. There is so much darkness out there. I must replace it with my light. My light is still so small. It never goes out, but the darkness overwhelms me. I should stay here, but Persephone demands I continue to shine in the darkness. I am not allowed to stay for long. I am never allowed to stay for long. My strength grows as I fight the darkness. I am not alone when I am here, but I grow ever more alone, when I am not.

We are each other’s hemispheres I am fine tuning my soul To the universal wavelength No one is a lover alone I propose an atom dance [Verse 2: Björk] Our hearts are coral reefs in low tide Love is the ocean we crave Restlessly turning around and around I am dancing towards transformation Learning by love to open it up Let this ugly wound breathe We fear unconditional heart space Healed by atom dance [Refrain 1: Björk] When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me! We are each other’s hemispheres [Verse 3: Björk & Antony Hegarty] We aim at peeling off Dead layers of loveless love No one is a lover alone Most hearts fear their own home Most hearts, they fear their own home Becoming themselves fully It scares them off [Refrain 2: Björk] When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me! [Chorus 1: Antony Hegarty] No one is a lover alone, lone Most hearts fear their own home You are my second hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing [Chorus 1: Björk & Antony Hegarty] No one is a lover alone, lone Most hearts fear their own home You are my second hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing [Interlude: Björk] Atoms are laughing at last Atoms are laughing at last At last, at last Atoms are... [Chorus 2: Björk & Antony Hegarty] No one is a lover alone No one is a lover alone, lone Most hearts fear their own home You are my second hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing

We are each other's hemispheres I am fine tuning my soul To the universal wavelength No one is a lover alone I propose an atom dance Our hearts are coral reefs in low tide Love is the ocean we crave Restlessly turning around and around I am dancing towards transformation Learning by love to open it all Let this ugly wound relief We fear unconditional heart space Healed by atom dance When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me! We are each other's hemispheres We aim at peeling off dead layers of loveless love No one is a lover alone Most hearts fear their own home Come in themselves fully It scares them all When you feel the flow as primal love Enter the pain and dance with me No one is a lover alone, no one Most hearts fear their own home You are my same hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing No one is a lover alone, no Most hearts fear their own home You are my same hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing Atoms are laughing at last Atoms are laughing at last At last, at last Atoms are No one is a lover alone No one is a lover alone, lone Most hearts fear their own home You are my second hemisphere, hemisphere The atoms are dancing, dancing
