May not be the most articulate guy ever, but I appreciate that. We need people from the community to serve the community more often

  • @richardarnez4932

Yes but being inarticulate doesn't make you somehow a better politician or community organizer. There are plenty people that come from rural neighborhoods who are a lot more articulate than him and can accomplish way more than he. I know Donald Trump lowered the bar on who is qualified for a position, but that doesn't mean we should allow everyone to hold office

I lived in Hawaii the past 10 years and recently moved back to the mainland due to the housing market and cost of living. Professional people have to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. The state is run by incompetent democratic lifetime politicians. Look at "crazy" Mazie Hirono for an example of that. The state is bogged down in so much bureaucracy that the train they were building from Kapolei to Honolulu has gone bankrupt before they can even get the tracks to the airport. Literally wasted hundreds of millions of dollars on something that is now useless. During the Corona virus the whole tourist industry shut down and the state lost so many jobs, people that had worked in the tourist industry for 15+ years let go. I love BJ Penn and have been a fan for years. I'm not sure if he can make fundamental changes in Hawaii, but I think he will try. I for one support BJ Penn and hope he shakes up the system.

My point is, it doesn’t matter where you’re from. What matters is a person’s character, intentions, heart, morals. So important to give the youngsters someone/something to live by. Someone to follow and see as an example. Your uncle has a good heart because of that. RIP unko Duncan. 🙏🏼

There’s always the emphasis on the candidate and only the candidate. But like the last thing Bj said, “you gotta have a lot of people helping you out”. It’s not just one person who runs the country, the state, the town, or the house; its multiple people with different skills and backgrounds that on their own could only excel so much. But together, working with people with different skills and perspectives we can really make a long lasting difference. I hope he gets all the support he needs to create perpetual change for the better.

Say what you want, sometimes someone that’s less articulate is the better candidate because they’re more genuine (I’m not saying that is always the case but it seems to be especially so with politicians). I think being governor is maybe a bigger commitment than he thinks but his heart is in the right place and he is very passionate, his past of never giving up when times are hard (granted it’s a different kind of fight) would be a big plus and with the people of hawaii on his side, I think he could figure it out

Hawaii is an island state there are only so many hotels and highways that you can put there. It is not realistic to think that Hawaii could become self-sufficient.
