Guys, I think they are referring to Mitchell’s conflation of Israelis with Jews. Not all Jews are Israeli, but Mitchell’s language demonizes all Jews. Don’t get me wrong-Israelis are definitely trying to take that land back. But not all Jews support or are responsible for their actions. Additionally, the antisemitism comes in with Mitchell’s reference to long-existent tropes about all Jews as wicked . I have no problem with Bryce on this.

The question seemed to be about Jewish people and Israel. And the MMA fighter's answer seemed to be that certain very rich Jewish people, who are small percentage of people who identify as Jewish, and who may not really reflect the values of the Jewish religion, are working together to establish permanent Jewish control of land that is currently controlled by Israel - by advocating killing of non-Jewish people in that territory, including Muslims and Christians - using weapons and funding provided by the USA. That answer seems to have a strong grounding in actual fact. In a certain sense Zionism is to Jewish people what white supremacy is to white people. In both cases, other races are seen as inferior in a way that makes them dangerous, with segregation (and possibly other forms of discrimination and persecution) being the only way to keep the superior race safe. Understanding the claim that segregation is inherently unequal is difficult. But if individuals of different races are truly seen as equal then there is no need for segregation. I don't like that, because of white supremacy, there are non-white people who view me with suspicion and even hostility, solely because they see me as a white person. So I understand that Jewish people don't like that, because of Zionism, there are non-Jewish people who will view a Jewish person with suspicion and even hostility, simply because they see that person as Jewish. Ultimately, the best way to reduce this suspicion and hostility is to reduce white supremacy and Zionism.

Given that Bryce seems to have "faith" in Jewish religious mythology version 2.0 (a.k.a Christianity), a pure equal rights perspective that recognizes that there are no meaningful differences between people who are and are not Jewish (that we're all just individual human beings) is going to be difficult for him to accept or even understand. But criticizing rich Jewish people who promote Zionism is no more bigoted than criticizing rich white people who promote white supremacy. Ideally, there would be a recognition that, as individual humans, we are all equally at risk for engaging in racism and other forms of bigotry. And that most, if not all, cultures and religions do have certain specific aspects that can cause individuals immersed in those cultures or religions to become more racist and bigoted. And, ideally, criticizing those certain specific aspects would be acceptable. But, at least in the USA, freedom of religion and speech is somewhat limited, particularly regarding criticism of certain specific aspects of Jewish religion and culture that can cause individuals immersed in them to become more racist and bigoted.

This guy's framing is wrong but there are certainly things we should acknowledge. The organized Jewish American community is extraordinarily wealthy and they use their wealth to advocate for the colonization of Palestine and the expansion of Israel. This is a statement of fact. Look at Jews like Haim Saban (major pro-Israel donor to the Dems) or the Adelsons (major pro-Israel donors to the Republicans) or Jewish organizations like AIPAC or the Jewish Federations. These Jewish individuals and Jewish orgs fight tooth and nail to support Israel. Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with pointing out the social class wealthy Jews find themselves in. This may be a shocker, but rich people use their wealth to manipulate society, and this includes rich Jews. There is also an unfortunate mixture of Judaism, Jewish Supremacy, and Zionism that is at play in Israel and the organized Jewish communities across the West. Plenty of Jews believe in "Jewish genius" (this is a race based belief) and insist that Zionism is an expression of Judaism. On an academic level, one can clearly explain how and why Judaism and Zionism are not one and the same. However, in practice, it is Jews who define what Judaism is because they are the ones who express it and non-Jews are not in a position to tell Jews what their religion entails. Therefore, as long as a majority of Jews (seems like a majority of Jews to me) and Jewish institutions are committed to Zionism then its going to be very difficult to convince people that Zionism and Judaism are separate things. Finally, Id like point out that the organized Jewish American community is really plugged into power and highly assimilated into white America and America in general. Anthony Blinken, the secretary of state, is Jewish and a diehard Zionist. His grandfather spent his days researching the economic viability of Jewish colonization of Palestine so he could convince Americans to support the Zionist project. Joe Biden's children married into Jewish families. VP Harris has a Jewish husband. Clinton's daughter married a Jewish man. Trumps daughter is Jewish. This level of access to power is remarkable and should be genuinely reflected on and discussed.

I get why their upset, but this is the dialogue and the trajectory that his guest took and its pretty common. I have empathy for Sam, he seems like a great guy and he has every right to be upset.
