Greece has created civilization in the higher sense of the word. I am an Italian professor of English literature (University of Naples) but I keep repeating this plain truth to my students. It may sound rethorical, but I feel obliget to thank you and hope thay you are proud for being born in the land of Sappho, Sophocles, Pericles, and HUNDREDS of similar geniuses. Long live Greece.

@eleosasdasd I don't know if I am so wise as you seem to think. Oldish I am for sure, as I am 62 years old and have been teaching English Literature at Naples university for more than 30 years. I still lecture. My love for Greece and her civilization is of a long standing. It goes back to the years when I was as old as you and my excellent teachers taught me the ancient Greek language, thus allowing me to read and appreciate the Old Masters. Greece is a religion for me.

I will be waiting them eagerly ^_^ These old concerts give a more "vivid" feeling . More "revolutionary" if you get me :) Somehow reminds me of an era we had more hope in us for the future. And since now things look to be going to hell is good at least to be able to live again the "air" of these old eras.

The comment is also rich. I obviously bought it immediately. Now I am reading it through. As you can see, we Italians never forget what your literature means to us, either ancient or modern.

My hope is that both the Greek and Italian peoples wake up from their nightmarish present and shape a better future. And believe me: no other country has your Light, in every meaning of the word. Whenever I read your poets or your historians or philisophers or dramatists (and I keep reading them all) I am astonished.

As far as modern Greek poets are concerned, my favourite is Kavafis (I almost obliged my students to read it...), but Seferis is a great artist too. And I'm sure that among our-your contempoaries there must be some who write good or excellent poetry. Time will show.
