    I see a problem with one answer u didn't cover in beginning when white develops knight attacking queen. What if black pins knight offering trading queen now black up pawn and casting in two move. White now has knight on bad h file down pawn, castling not big deal cuz queens off board but isn't black winning from here?

  • @paulgoogol2652

    Good question. I played this a lot with white and it is very easy to play but much harder to defend with black. Stockfish brought up Qh4+ then Qf6 with messy, impossible to play positions for black. So after googling I found a suggestion to counter e4 e5 f4 with an early d5 and so on. It should take the easy positions away.

Still a little double edged but probably avoids white preparation or makes it less relevant because the game is much easier to play for black.

    If the queen comes to h4, why can't you play g3 instead of moving the king? The queen can't capture for obvious reasons, and if the pawn captures, Nf3 forces the queen to move. After that, you can capture the pawn on g3. If the queen captures on e4 after Nf3, Qe2 would block the check and threaten the queen. I'm probably just missing something obvious.

    Preston Thompson he was talking about different lines in the Fischer defence to the knights gambit. He didn’t address the bishops gambit at all. The point of D6 is to stop Spassky line of ne5 after g5. It has no point when white doesn’t play nf3. He was also wrong about d6 in the nights gambit, but that’s a diff topic

  • @GoUtes92

    @GoUtes92

    4 жыл бұрын

    I realize that he didn’t talk about the Bishop’s Gambit specifically but the context of his article was focused on the general gambit. Also, Fischer was arrogant enough that he was willing to play the King’s Gambit even though he deemed it inferior. Stockfish actually likes Black’s chances better after the Bishop’s Gambit as opposed to what Fischer analyzed simply due to the Qh4+ response. D6 there isn’t terrible but not playing Qh4+ would be dubious.
