Bishop's dad was raped in prison which is why Bishop is so sensitive and obsessed with being respected. He never wants to be punked like his dad. Wish they would have kept those details in the movie but apparently it was cut. The only mention is Radamez mentioning his dad being raped.

Yeah, facts. His dad was apparently pimped out by the stronger inmates in prison. It screwed him up mentally and Bishop by association had to live with the shame of it. That's why he had so much self-hate and anger.

Two fun facts: during filming, Tupac befriended and knew the locals of Harlem. This movie was also where Tupac wrote Brenda’s Got a Baby from reading a newspaper article.

I first saw this movie in theaters when my cousin took my brother and i to see it at the $1.50 movie theater. It went from a coming of age to a horror movie after Bishop got the gun. Radamez was real crazy

At 1:36 his dad’s manhood was taken in prison so bishop had a complex about being bullied by radamez crew.

Don't get caught up in role, it's Tupac acting that's incredible. He's not a trained actor, he studied a few classes but this is natural to him. The indie Sundance film industry award him a best actor role for this performance. And the scene they show presenting the award is the apartment scene.

The worst mistake was giving Bishop that gun he felt powerful with the gun in his hand and he wanted juice that bad

I love how it turns into a horror movie with jump scares in the second half.

Definitely need to put some Quentin Tarantino movies on your list. He’s one of the greatest writers/directors. Jackie Brown, True Romance, Kill Bill, Django Unchained are my favorite films from him.

Movie was definitely not a comedy. Even in a "lowkey" way, it still wasn't a comedy. The movie was written and filmed to reflect the everyday life of a specific group of young, black, low to middle class teens living in the projects. Nothing in this film is even funny, if you laughed throughout it that's because you projected your own sense of humor onto it.
