I'd been a strong atheist for several years, and to this day, still deeply love listening to Hitchens and Nietzsche (read Harris, Dawkins, Dennett, even Freud, listened to Dillahunty, etc). But Joseph Campbell re-opened my receptivity to religious views, with the aid of Cicero and Dr. Robert Sapolsky, and you, Father, have been the one who brought everything together theologically for me, culminating in my more official, public (among my friends and family) return to faith. Thanks for all of your work, and keep it up; it means a great deal to many of us out here.

@@ritachikata I too was an atheist (an obnoxious one) from age 15 to 34. Now I’m catholic attending daily mass and I’ve never been more intellectual. I was baptist before without much real knowledge. So it didn’t take much to make me an atheist when presented with those atheist arguments. But I grew up and realized atheism was too simple to be true. And I started the process to learn.

Congratulations Father Robert, I am extremely happy for you as you were one of the reasons why I broke atheism and embraced Catholicism.

Mazel tov to Bishop Barron. I know at least four people who became Catholics in the past year or so in part to the Catholicism series. Bishop Barron has done a brilliant job showing the beauty, intelligence, and holiness of the Catholic Church and should be pleased with his work. One thing I would like to ask is how the Catholic Church plans to re-evangelize Latin America. Countries which used to be almost completely Catholic have noted sharp declines in members during this decade. While the decline in Mass attendance in the U.S. should be addressed, it's much more astonishing to see countries in which the entire culture revolves around the Church turning to other faiths or none at all.

Laity and clergy must face it, accept responsibility, be humble enough to admit our culpability and move forward with solutions. OBLIQUE What a wonderful thing to say! I suspect that the "gap" for you is one of perception. Perhaps you think you have made too many mistakes in your life. Or perhaps you are aware of some issue, and feel that you must do better first, before you can approach God. This is a common idea. We become aware of our failings, and because we are now aware of them, we feel we must first fix them or God will not take us seriously. This thinking is a trap of the deceiver. A life preserver is needed by a drowning person. We throw it to them without conditions. We don't wait to see if they will survive, and throw it to them once they are swimming on their own. God simply does not place such conditions on us. The Church is here as a life preserver. Anyone can grab a hold. There are no conditions. If there are problems, even that seem impossible, the first step is to have hold of what you need to steady yourself. That alone can help you see the way more clearly. Since you see the good in the catholic church, do not be afraid to approach. The answers are waiting here for you.

I've been viewing your videos for a few months now. I want to give you and your team thanks, each video is a wonderfully engaging lesson. Becoming a priest is one of my goals for the Lord thanks to your ministry of these videos and Word on Fire. I was surprised to see the pectoral cross because you haven't worn it before - you got it 10 days ago. I like it a lot, it seemed familiar for some reason and then you said it was modeled of off Pope Francis' pectoral cross. First of all, congratulations to you Bishop-elect Robert Barron. May the good Lord be upon you on your new ministry. Secondly, please continue this online ministry. I gave credit to you for explaining about Pope Francis and his missions to the church, I first had no feeling for him, I thought he was a Marxist, I did not like his comments at all. I gradually turning my heart to him, not 100% yet.
