BIRTH OF GEORGETOWN, KENTUCKY! HISTORY!
In this video we tell the rich story of the early beginnings of Georgetown, Kentucky. It's first settlement called McClelland's Station was attacked by Native Americans under the leadership of the Mingo Chief Pluggy and was later abandoned. Later the Reverend Elijah Craig is said to have invented Bourbon whiskey at this spot. We cover the historic bridge that was built circa 1800, making and the oldest bridge in Kentucky and we even show you the old jail.

Thanks so much for posting this video. The family names listed on the signs have given me some valuable clues. Like me, John Floyd was a direct descendant of the Nathaniel Davis family and Nicketti, the niece of Pocahontas. Family lore has it that he also had his hand in the rescue of Jemima Boone. I had a second great grandfather named John McClellan Huber, and I've never been able to figure out who his namesake was. It may have been this John McClelland, although it has a slight spelling difference with a "d" at the end. I will be sure to check that out. Again, thanks so much for posting.

Perhaps your ancestor was named after the Civil War General McClellend?

@@familytreenutshistorygenealogy John McClellan Huber was only two years younger than General George McClellan, so it likely did not have anything to do with him. It does not appear to have anything to do with General McClellan's extended family either. But I do admit that was the very first thing that ran through my mind when I first saw John McClellan Huber's name. Thanks for the hint anyway.

Thank you for the interesting video. Sadly, William Price, my Revolutionary veteran ancestor who came to Scott County in 1790 and died in 1831, is not listed on the monument.
