Ryan C what? No, Luke and Anakin were over time revealed as force users in the first film they were in. But, with Rey, one second she is a scavenger, cool. The next suddenly she has lightsaber training and force powers that would’ve taken years to learn.

I saw just saw that kid carrying a Planet Geonosis Clone Trooper helmet on Planet Tatooine how did it get here on Planet Tatooine and I think this is the republic era before the Imperial Era and the New Republic Era

Absolutely Fantastic Job! To take a minor ROTJ character and give him an entire backstory was brilliant. The acting, effects, costumes, sets/locations and cinematography makes this a masterpiece. Loved every minute of it. Totally fits right into the SW Universe. Bravo! Extremely well done!!!!!

I applause to the authors who made this with a small budget. They are true fans of Star Wars It's sad, that Disney can't understand what big universe they have. So many interesting events could happen in the galaxy far far away, but they did the old story which was already finished and they managed to ruin old characters.

That droid was an amazing character. Everything here was done well, but I loved how the droid cares for the boy, even to the point of going against its owner to protect him. And the design was a great variant of the typical protocol droid. Great job!

I mean... WOW! Seriously. Production value was fabulous. Costumes were great. Gorgeous wide shots and vistas. This could fit right into a one off episode in The Mandalorian or something.

I felt like I was actually watching Star Wars.

I actually thought it was a Krayt dragon until the barge came along and the kid was wearing the head-scarf like the rancor keeper does in Jedi.

Everything in this film is first rate, from the production, story, actors, filming, costumes, special effects, and music. It's as if Lucas and his production company wrote and filmed the entire story. I would have never guessed this is a "fan film." Congrats! Everyone should win an award for the great work done on this film. 👍

This had more Star Wars heart than the new Disney Trilogy. This was so sweet and well thought out. Loved it!

This fan film may be the best one I have seen. You put characters and substance ahead of flashy lightsabers and CGI. Thank you for this very good short film, appreciate the effort.

Sweet and touching, very cool story ! I figured he was Malakili and the "monster" was the Rancor for sure (i was hesitating with a Wampa) right after the "one year later" seeing his new garments ! And then Jabba's small barge arriving totally made me smile and got the whole thing ! :D

This is one of the best examples of how fans can make wonderful and better things than large productions. The locations, the photography, the makeup, the costumes, the props, the puppets, the music and the scenography are AMAZING !! That droid, man!, the details, the acting, BRAVO !! The ending is incredible!. Congratulations to the cast & crew.

he's from the planet Corellia and the Rancor is from the planet Dathomir. but other than that, was very well made, and and good back story

This is one of my fave fan films out. It’s better than the canon story, feels TOTALLY like I am watching Star Wars, and once Bib appeared I shit my undies. So we’ll done!

This little film gave me a 1977 smile!!The OHHHH moment was so reminiscent of the original trilogy.

Now that's how you make a Star Wars story. SPOILERS BELOW. The man in Return of the Jedi who cried when Luke killed the Rancor could possibly be the little boy in this movie? WOW! And, this movie is how Jabba got the Rancor in the first place. This is a prime example of a character driven story. Yes, flashy special effects help, but it's really all about characters.

Of all the Star Wars fan movies about Troopers, Jedis, Sith etc this has to be the most genuine, Star Wars feeling fan movies out there. When I finally clicked who he was after the One Year later transition I literally had a huge smile on my face!! Well done guys!! (Also the cinematography, scene transitions, locations, creatures, props and characters all felt 100% Star Wars!!!)

Right? When I saw the kid with the goggles and head wear I knew exactly who this was about and I loved it. I can see this kid working for Jabba for decades as his monster wrangler and now makes the death of the Rankor in Jedi that much more impactful.

What a bizarre and unique angle to take with a fan film, yet it was so riveting. Incredible sets and costume design, felt like it was right out of the original trilogy.... Love the little bit with George at the end too

I think it's just a story following a average person in the universe, not a jedi or a smuggler or a princess. It reminds me of the ewok movie. It's like Luke Skywalker's life before he found out he wasn't just a moisture farmer. I think it was great because it didn't push it's boundaries too far like other fan films. Good set, props, actors, an effects. I agree it was very good, and different, which is something the series needs and adapts well for.

This is so good and so hearty. It makes me sad that Disney can't get with the program when it comes to telling a basic story without screwing it up. That last little snip of George Lucas talking about the Rancor's keeper loving him almost brought me to tears. I completely forgot about that little touch in the original trilogy.

Brilliant, one of the best fan movies I've seen. BIG smile on my face when I realised who the boy was as the sail barge came in to view, explains why he was upset in ROTJ

To think a fan film about the rancor monster's owner could be this good, well done ! I legit got original trilogy vibes when I saw the first longshot of the boy walking in the desert with his droid.

Níłch’i naalkidí ᛏᛖᛚᛖᚹᛁᛋᛁᛟᚾ दूरदर्शन التلفاز they are actually found native on a few planets but yes Felucia is one that has rancors. I’m not aware of Tatooine having rancor in their ecosystem but it might not be a totally impossible idea that a few were living in caves. Maybe even smuggled on the planet at one point.

This film was beautiful. This truly parallels with Return of the Jedi and the characters are so good to Especially the droid . Plus the music was awesome and I love the bit from the cantina from ep 4 I give this film 10/10

Decent. Very VERY DECENT! This had me from the start. I loved the approach. Anybody that says negative things about this one does not appreciate the craft I dare say. The origin story was off the chain too. Hit that one out of the park. MORE PLEASE. No greater compliment than fans demanding more. Well done guys!

This short 20 min. fan film likely made on a shoestring budget had more charm, character, soul, and creativity than a multi-million dollar studio produced film...this IS how Star Wars should be.

I come back and watch this every so often just because it’s truly inspiring. The amount of love put into this is truly something special. I look up to everyone who had a part in putting this together.

Excellent backstory. Loved it. Always felt a little sorry for the rancor & it's keeper when it died in Return of the Jedi. It went from being a vicious beast to someone's beloved pet when it's keeper saw it die & was crying. Like finding your dog you raised from a pup dead from being struck by a car. Totally realistic,relatable & emotional

Disney please hire these guys to make more of these !! This is just amazing--it captures the essence of Star Wars.

well I can tell you 2 things right now. #1 it's not the best film in the entire galaxy and #2 even if it is that's not saying much because only one planet so far has films and you're standing on it.

It would be great to see more origin stories based on low level characters. I really enjoyed this story. Please keep them coming.

I really love fan-films that don't involve important events or characters, but still reference the greater Star Wars universe. It allows it to easily fit into someone's head canon, without messing with pre existing information, or any future canon content.

A trillion times better than Disney!!! This deserves a full feature film 😍

I really like the parallels between the scenes at the entrance of the cave. And the scene where Luke goes to Jabbas Palace in Return.

Wonderful!!! Hits you like a ton of bricks when you realize who this character is. Well done!

@@rainlsd figured it out about half way, for sure, but suspected it since I first saw the egg. Kind of fooled myself though. I kept thinking of The Force Unleashed and how Rancors are supposed to be native to some kind of jungle planet. I literally said "It has to be the rancor from ROTJ, but why would their be a rancor nest on Tatooine?"

The practical effects were amazing. I really enjoyed this. Great work to all involved!

Unfortunately, the film failed to pay off for me because Krayt Dragons are native to Tatooine, NOT Rancors. If only the filmmaker had instead made a film about the evolving relationship between the off-world captured Rancor brought to Jabba’s palace & his human keeper, that would have made a far more rewarding story.

Well done, had me captivated. I didn't figure it out until the scene after "One Year Later" and was like Ahhhh. Up until then I was like its a Krayt Dragon!!!!

Incredible back story about Jabba's Rancor and the Rancor keeper, I felt like I was actually watching Star Wars, also the Clone Trooper helmet was a nice touch.

Hats off to the production of this film. This is how you properly flesh out the characters that will makes the movie all the while relevant; how did people end up in Jabba's lair, there must be a story, whether long or short, light or dark there's a story and it matters to us. Not that Rey looking at the mirrors reflecting her own image means anything to us. Just like Luke said," Why are you here?" If you can answer the question, that's the key to a successful movie.

Now this is a fan film that needs to be added to the cannon!

Made by Timothy Reed Martn who is a real Hollywood special effects and makeup artist. That is why this looks so friggin good. Dont mind this at all. Wish that more industry insiders can do more work like this where their work can be seen and they can express their creativity in different ways. Look up his work on imdb. I definitely support more work like this. Especially where it can tell a great story like this and doesnt have to be promoted for millions of dollars. This is so great. Thank you Timothy. Hope more work like this continues.

I am a major consumer of STAR WARS Fan Films, this is one of the very best I have seen. So, this is the story of the Rancor Owner.. how awesome is that. Congratulations and May The Force Be With You... Always.

WOW, iI KNOW when Lucas watches this he will be AMAZED. Treu SW feeling, fantastic locations, photography, great acting of the boy and the droid character..super.

Absolutely loved this short film, it is a brilliant back story to a character I was always intrigued by. This was such a high quality fan film I can almost believe its been sitting in George Lucas' vault for all this time and has just surfaced on the internet. The creators should be very proud

Brilliant. Best fan-film I've seen. Looks professionally made and avoided all the usual cliches.

There's more heart in this 20 minutes fan movie than 8 & 9 put together.

I agree with 9, but Johnson really put a lot of heart in The Last Jedi, he created a Star Wars movie with his own vision, not just for the fans.

10/10 Incredible acting. Incredible Writing. And some set and costume design to rival the actual star wars films. Not a second wasted. I could list my favourite parts but I would be here all day

This was probably the best Star Wars fan film I've seen. And as a filmmaker myself, i was extremely impressed with the production quality, special effects and authentic feel to Star Wars. And the nerd in me is going nuts realizing at the end that it was Malakili the Rancor Master. Awesome job!

60 year old grampa man says 'thank you, thank you very much!' When I was just a little boy, a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away .... Like going back home again. what a perfect film. The Force lives.

A fan recommended this short film from a Boba Fett Rancor thread that was trending from the recent episode. Love this film. Well done. The young actor looks like my step son. I miss him!

I love the way you connected the original story with this spectacular fan film it kind of makes everything feel more complete with the rankor story

Hands down the absolute best fan film!

It's a sad state of affairs when fan films are better and feel more like Star Wars films than actual Star Wars films. Bravo!! This was well done. Enjoyed every bit of it.

Excellent job. Wow. I have no idea what the actual budget was but the production value on this story, film, vfx, etc was amazing. So good. Thanks for your time and efforts on this one. As far as I'm concerned, it's cannon. :) Congrats!

We essentially didn't have a budget. besides some hard costs for build the set. otherwise lots of dedicated individuals donating lots of time!

@@NickMahar You were the D.P. I have to give you major props. I'm very into cinematography myself, and this was was just epic. I want to see the world move back into this classical style of cinematography. Storytelling is so much more effective when the camera isn't shaking around like someone having a spaz attack was operating it, and shooting into the lights for an abundance of lens flares. Thank you! Good work my friend.

Nice job going to Death Valley sand dunes where many Tatooine desert scenes were filmed! Ive been there many times (live about 2 hours away) and love it! Iconic!

I thought Star Wars was dead. Killed of by Disney. And then I saw this. This is the most Star Wars I have seen since in years.

More believable than the sequel trilogy So authentic Amazing cinematography WOW Actual aliens and good environments done with practical effects and REAL locations(I hate marvel movies because too much CGI) I LOVE RANCORS The storytelling is right on beat with star wars (something about the sequel trilogy always felt folly, even after seeing the force awakens for the first time when I was only 15)

felt so much like an actual star wars movie! acting was good, the cinematography was superb, cgi was done very well. great job guys

What an EXCELLENT back story. Makes Luke Skywalker look terrible for killing that little boy's pet rancor. Also makes it so much more understandable why the fuy cried when the rancor died

I’ve seen them all, this is the very best SW fan film yet. So well done. Wish the other prequels had been that creative and true to the original. Nice work, put a huge smile on this old SW nerd’s face!
