Hugh johns, one of my favourite commentators,he came out with some belters, mainly commented on the midlands teams... gates, he gave that some stick. Legend. Takes me right back to my childhood watching footy. I was 11 at the time and had been going to watch Man Utd at old Trafford since the start of the 1980 season. Love early 80s football, class 👍

Town were very good & should've won more under Robson. Along with Forest, Villa & Liverpool & Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City these were tough dudes in Div 1 at the time.

This was bobby Robson's last season with Ipswich, before becoming England's manager. This great team was gradually broken up in 1982.mariner,brazil , thyssen and muhren were sold to arsenal and man. Utd.

Mariner was not a great all time goal scorer but bis ability to work the line, aerial skills and bringing in players into the attack was first class, a top rate footballing brain on him..
